I have been a customer of Fingerhut for more years then I can remember and have had no problem until last year. I had purchased two recliners and had setup automatic payments which every 6 months had to be reprocessed.

I was down to the last payment and they never took the money out of my account - I assumed they would get around to it or maybe I had made a accounting mistake and it was paid off.

Well, 3 months later I got a surprise! A bill for my last payment plus 3 months late charges! I couldn't believe it so I got on the phone to them to rectify the mistake. That was a mistake - they would not listen to me and demanded I pay the whole amount immediately. This was now double what my last payment would have been.

I refused and they began called daily and harrassing me and my husband then they turned me over to an collection agency called Encore. I stopped taking their calls, hanging up when they called or if my husband answered refusing to waste my breath on them. Finally he (my husband made arrangements to pay the last payment plus a late charge and they would settle and the account would be closed.

That was in November - now they have begun sending me bills again (and adding on their lovely late charges) and calling me everyday again demanding payment.

I want to sue them and stop them from doing this to others, I can see from the Rip Off Report that they make a habit of doing this to everyone eventually, so we need to put a stop to them now! Anyone in the process of filing a Class Action Suit against them please contact me, because I'm in!
