I also pulled up a credit report on myself to verify some infor. Found out that FingerHut-which I never had-was on my credit report. Due to the Fact that all I had was FingerHut, I called them-ANYONE W/ ACC#'S STARTING W/80 are in our other company "since Fingerhut went through changes and filed BK in 2002". That is what I was told. Given a POBox address and a FAX #. WOW>what is that suppose to do. Looked up all Compucredit companies. NO ONE is listed in ST.Cloud, MN.Called back to FH and the lady told me once again there was nothing I could do. So CONTACT THE CREDIT B. YOU ARE USING AND DISPUTE THIS!!MY ADVICE!!It will at least appear that you are in dispute, Compucredit WILL NOT RESPOND(AS IT APPREARS) TO ANYONE. That is my suggestion. And Watch you credit report closely. I did not have FH/Compucredit--So how now do I get it off. It is affecting my score! Good Luck. I hope people read this that are applying for FH-STAY AWAY!!They go bankrupt and they don't protect the old clients they have had or not had or the might have had!!!BUYER BEWARE!!!!

but in the interim make sure you dispute the claim in writing sending it certified with return receipt with the collection agency and fingerhut and ask for validation PUTTING THE certification number on the letter. If they don't respond, contact the credit bureaus advising them the company failed to validate the claim and to remove it. It sounds like the debt (if there really was one) is out of SOL anyway.

Since you are in Oxford, Ohio and if you are a student of Miami U. you might see if there is a student legal department that can assist you too.
