after I paid the company in full , they did not post my check for 2 months and charged me 18.00 per month in late fees for a $7.00 payment which I do not owe. The bill is up to above 64.00 and rising at 18.00 + intrest monthly. they told us they would ruin us if they could , they have also cussed us over the phone

we are recieving as many as 4 telephone call daily , every day. I do not owe this it is not the amount ..it is the principle. I don't let people steal from me and know it.

Fingerhut Credit is on my credit report, and I have never had any account with them. At the time they claimed I did I was not even employed to qualify for a revolving account.

The original Fingerhut Credit was dissolved a number of years ago, and Federal Foods their orginal parent company sold accounts to a company called Compucredit. They may be the people calling you indicating they're calling on behalf of Fingerhut.

I spoke to a public relations agent with Fingerhut at (800) 605-5364 and they were aware that Compucredit calls people about old accounts.
I would suggest you contact them at the above number and ask them to help you get this straightened out.
Compucredit can be reached at (800) 755-9333, although they will only tell you to fax them information on your account.
Compucredit apparently has had the State Attorney General for Minn. inquiring about complaints from consumers.

Proof of payment... never give out bank info over the phone

You stated that they didn't post your check for 2 months... by this do you mean it didn't hit the bank for 2 months, or they just didn't record the payment for 2 months?

If the check was cashed at your bank soon after you sent it, you could contact the bank and get a copy of the check showing when it was cashed. This would give you some proof that the payment was made, and that the company was committing fraud by not posting it for 2 months.

I would contact the bank and ask for a copy of the check. If the check was cashed asap, write to Fingerhut Credit Advantage and include a copy of the check copy stating that their office didn't post the payment properly and if they don't fix the problem you will be contacting your state's Attorney General.

Send all writing via certified mail, return receipt... this way you have proof that someone received the writing

Also, never give out bank info over the phone... collection agencies have been known to just start making withdrawals without further permission.
