I recieved a catalog with a pre-approved offer of $220, to which i threw away.  Later I found out they opened an account in my name without my authorization or request.  This was not ID Theft!!  Fingerhut has stated the account was never used and no purchaes were ever made, which is why this is not ID Theft.  They simply opened an account in my name but it was never reported to Experian until sometime late in 2014, and I have been disputing it since then.

They are also reporting the account as "discharged under banktuptcy", which is false.  I did file bankruptcy, but they are not listed as a creditor since I never opened an account.  I have provided proof of this to Fingerhut and they are still refusing to do anything at this point.  They want a police report, which I filed one and gave them the case number, etc, but they want to see the whole report, which will cost me do get, but I will.

They also refuse to show me proof that I requested an account to be opened and proof they were notified by the bankruptcy court, probably because they have no such proof.  Again, I have already sent them a copy of the list of creditors from the bankruptcy paperwork, but they still have not stated they will remove the reporting. Also, how can an account be discharged in bankruptcy when there is nothing owed.

This seems like a good case for a class action lawsuit as I am sure there are others out there.  They are in clear violation of the FCRA regulations.

Experian has agreed to remove the "discharge in bankruptcy" with proof that Fingerhut was not listed on the bankruptcy paperwork, so this even more affirms that Fingerhut is in violation of FCRA regulations and they should be held accountable.

The sad part of all of is that Fingerhut has lost no money.  The only thing we agree on is that the account was never used to purchase anything. They are just being jerks.  Why would I open an account and not use it?
