Firestone Bethel Park Location Biggest Rip Off Around!! Overcharges if you don't catch them Bethel Park Pennsylvania
I am appauled at how Firestone rips people off, especially women, if they think you are stupid enough to fall for it. I went to this location to get new tires on my car and the "sales guy" told me they only have 2 styles in stock, one for $145 a tire and one for $165 a tire. So I chose the $165 per tire and they asked me if I wanted the "Lifetime Alignment" package which I said ok to and then he said they would call me when it was finished. So he calls and says that it is completed and my total is $1,100!!!!!! When I went in to pick up the car I told him that I wanted to take off the lifetime alignment package because I just didn't think it was necessary and he replied "it's too late, we already built it into the package, you have to purchase it". What???? What does that mean? Once it's in the computer, their system doesn't allow them to take it out???? Then I noticed several things on my bill like a system flush, etc, that I never asked for and they basically just charged my card and pushed me out the door. He also said "you need new breaks and rotars" and handed me their price sheet for the breaks and rotars that I supposdly needed and it was $1300!!!!! I said, No thanks and he continued to push me as if I were to walk out the door my breaks would fail and I would die in a crash or something. So I took my car to my family mechanic and he inspected it and said that I needed 4 new breaks, but NOT rotars as they were not even cut into. I showed him Firestone's quote and he pointed out that the break pads they had listed were Ceramic, the most expensive kind made. So....if I was some stupid woman who didn't know any better, I would have just said "ok" and been charged another $1300!! Plus there were more things added to their "breaks package" that my car never even needed. They are a rip off place and I will never go there again!! Be aware, don't just buy into what they tell you. Do the research and don't let them talk you into things you do not need. By the way, my mechanic charged me $400 for all new breaks. Not the $1300 Firestone would have.

That made me sick to my stomach to read that story and the comments to follow. I am a manager at a Firestone in south florida and I appologize to you maam for being called a moron. Whoever that employee was should be fired on the spot. I come from a store where customer service is our number one priority. I will say this to maam for your future endeavors with any mechanic. Make sure everything is spelled out and shown to you in writing before you authorize any work to be done. Whether its a firestone, an independant location, or another corporate store. Unfortunately you had the unpleasant expierence of dealing with someone who thought they could get over on you. I would urge you to contact a member of their district staff and let them know exactly what happened and how you were treated. Even if you are to never return to another Firestone. Our company is very customer orriented and I have never spoken to a customer like that or ripped off a customer since being in this industry. Reputation is everything when it comes to being a mechanic. I can only speak for the store that I work at but down here in South Florida it is, and has become priority # 1 to take care of the customer no matter the cost. It sounds to me this individual thought he could pull a fast one on you. I want to offer you my apologies and again urge you to contact their district and corporate staff immediately because that kind of behavior is NOT tolerated at Firestone. Whether its in Pennsylvania or Florida. We are a corporation that puts our customers first. Again, I do not work at that store but I apologize on behalf of Firestone for how you were treated. That is is simply unacceptable and unprofessional.

Didnt you look at the invoice before you approved the work for 1100 dollars .They are not going to charge you more the the orignal estimate unless you approved additional work 4 tires at 165 plus mount balance ,road hazard and lifetime alignment shoud be pretty close to 1100.which you should have know before you handed them the keys. Now the brakes what exactly did it include besides pads and rotors?what kind of car do you have?A lot of newer cars come with ceramic pads and if the other mechanic put anything diffrent on hes the one that ripped you off 400 for just pads!also did he measure the rotors maybe they were below their machine too or discard spec. Now if the other mechanic put cheap pads on to thin rotors then again he ripped you off and put you in a potentionaly dangerous situation.
I dont work for firestone but have been an ase master tech for nearly 30 years .Seems to me the other guy ripped you off by doing an incomplet repair

Personally I would not base my decision on whether or not to support a business based on someone who claims on the internet to be an employee of that business. He didn't say he worked at the Bethel Park Firestone. He could work at a different one, or maybe even at the Pep Boys in the shopping plaza and is trying to make the competition look bad.
I have been a long time customer of this particular Firestone and found them easy to work with and reasonable, particularly when it comes to those stupid state inspections. Also Firestone has a pretty good credit program - 90 days same as cash, a rebate on a portion of your purchases and some pretty good coupons.

Have been a business owner for 25 years, and have received my share of customer complaints or concerns. Can't remember ever referring to any of those people as 'morons'. Complaints are complaints. People are entitled to write and say whatever they want in this Country. I read these issues about Firestone and other companies as I find the website to be entertaining; as well as informational; but never paid them much attention. To me, a mechanic is a mechanic. They'll all rip you off at some point; because they can. But to refer to a customer as a 'moron', simply because she is voicing an opinion that apparently is shared by 142 other victims of Firestone on this website is totally unacceptable. I've been using this Firestone location since I moved to Bethel Park in 2002. Between my 2-cars, and my daughters' 2-cars; I've probably spent close to $15K there in annual maintenance. But I believe in the principle of treating people with respect, and quite honestly; to see a 'service manager/mechanic' respond in this manner is something I cannot in good conscience support. You've lost my business, and I would urge others in the area to find another mechanic for their needs too. I think there's a Pep Boys in the shopping plaza there. Use them. Or use another Firestone site; but don't support this kind of disrespectful treatment of a customer from the Bethel Park store. As I said, I've successfully run a business since '85; the one sure thing that gets my full attention is a loss of revenue. Trust me, if people leave, Firestone will notice; and rid themselves (and us) of this service menace. Oh, and that's not a spelling error from another 'moron' customer; sir, you're a menace. My vehicles will be going somewhere else starting today. Keep treating people in this manner, and I'm sure I won't be the last to leave. My advice would be to leave the responsibility of responding to customer complaints to somebody who is a little more intellectually qualified than you. I will also be sending a copy of this thread to Customer Service at Firestone. Like I said, I believe in the principles and rights of the customer.

So if fronts are $139 and rears are $139, then why were you going to charge me $1,300????????? Trust me, I'm glad I paid $400 to my mechanic and received great customer service, than paying "less" and receiving the terrible service your people give out. Your response to my original statement just goes to show you how classless your people are....calling a customer a "moron". Nice job there chief.

First and foremost, its BRAKES and ROTORS. Secondly, just because shade tree mechanic told you that the rotors were good doesnt mean they were. FS was going to charge you 1300 for both brakes and rotors. your mechanic charged you 400 for just brakes. Here is the great part. Im a service manager at firestone and let me give you the brake job price list. 139.99 for fronts, 139.99 for rears. What that simply means???? Your mechanic charge you more for pads and installation than firestone would have. Good choice moron!!!!
