Pretend Tire is Flat - Avoid Honoring Warranty

Firestone has a new scam to avoid honoring tire warranty - pretend the tire pressure is so low that the tire damage is the customers fault.

I purchased Bridgestone tire at an independent dealer. About halfway through warranteed mileage, I noticed tire defect- seperating on a seam. Independent Dealer confirmed tire had a defect.

I called Firestone Consumer affairs who conferenced manager in Westbury NY store and sent me to his Firestone Complete Care (ha ha) store.

Manager explained reasonably that the damage would be my fault if tire seperated because I was driving on a flat.

Manager took out tire gadge and pretended tire had only 15 or 16 PSI. (Then took gadge to another tire and said that was fine)I was told damage was caused by my negligence of driving on low tires. Wouldn't such barely inflated tires look flat???

Manager suggested tires to buy and I told him I would decide and order next day.

I asked Manager to have someone fill my flat tire so I could drive home. I followed him to shop where he instructed employee.

EMPLOYEE TOLD ME TIRE NEEDED NO AIR!!! Manager retested tire and told me he made a mistake - maybe his tire gadge was defective (Same tire gadge that correctly showed other tire was fine).

I have since ordered another brand of tires from my independent dealer.

Lastly, the same company that recently KILLED hundreds of people with faulty tires never did any investigation to see if this defect could be in other tires endangering other customers. They simply lied, telling me I was at fault to avoid honoring their warranty. How will Firestone know they have a problem if they scam the customers by convincing them it is their fault and turn them away.

I now know firestone stands for:

I INJURY.
R REFUSE
E EVERY
S SINGLE
T TIRE
O OR
N NEED
E EMERGENCY ASSISTANCE

I'll be safer with other better valued tires

why don't you look there? They give test results as well as reliability ratings.

One famous brand was rated "above average".
Another famous brand was rated "average".
ALL other brands were rated "below average".
