It has now been 3 weeks since I first reported that two of the three bedrooms in my house have no power. When I first called they promised that I would be called the next day to schedule the repair. No calls. I called the company that they had said would be doing the repair work and that company said that they no longer worked in my area.

Contacting First American, they said that they would find someone else right away or pass the request on to USSA, a company that First American contracts with to find service providers.

After two more weeks and multiple conversations with First American and USSA they have kindly offered to let me find my own service company. I have to pay and they will reimburse, or so they claim. Meanwhile my furnace will not start and so I have no heat in my house. I can not have that worked on until I determine if my power outage is connected.

The topper is that I stated that I would not be renewing my contract with them. The response was, "Thats OK." They had actively marketed First American to me for over a year. First they spend money to recruit me as a customer and then reject me. How do they expect to stay in business?

Finding a contractor by myself was simple

First American, after 3 weeks, graciouysly let me find my own contractor. It took only 1 call and I had a contractor, both near my house and very competent. Of course I still have to pay the $45 fee even though they have done nothing. Now we will have to see if I am reimbursed.
