Complaint Review: First American Home Buyers Protection Corporation

We had a built-in dishwasher that started smoking and creating a very bad smell of burning plastic whenever the door was closed. Since there are several small children in the home, my husband removed the front of the dishwasher and unplugged the wires that seemed to be causing the burning.(the dishwasher could not be unplugged as it was wired into the wall)

The technician came out and looked at the dishwasher and told us that a claim would have to be turned in to the company to see if the appliance would be "repaired or replaced".

Later the same day we received a call from this company telling us that the claimed was denied because the tech had written in his report that pieces of the appliance were all over the kitchen and that there was no way of knowing if the burning was caused by the home owner trying to fix the "problem". The wires were merely unplugged because we determined leaving them plugged in to be a very dangerous fire hazard! Because we were trying to keep our house from burning down they claim that we voided the warranty.

It is very obvious by looking at the appliance that we did nothing else to the dishwasher.
