First American Home Buyers Protection ripoff left a one year old infant without air conditioning during the latest heat wave by failing to obtain an AC company do to their policy. Odessa Texas
My wife called 1st American buyers protection co. early Tues. morning to inform them that our AC wasn't working. We bought a homeowners warranty with them at the closing of our house last Sept. They told us that they contracted with only one company that serviced our area (Boerne) and that other company's did not want to service that area do to the cost of gas.
I told them that I would be glad to find an AC co. that would come out to Boerne. They told me that if I did they would not honor our warranty nor would they pay for repairs. We live 25 min. outside San Antonio 3rd largest city in Texas. I can't believe that 1st American could not find us an AC co.
We are still waiting for them to call us with a co. that will fix our ac. They guaranteed us that we would be contacted by the AC contractor by the 2nd day which has come and gone. Yes, our one year old daughter is still burning up.

Demand the warranty company cancel the warranty and refund your money. Hire your own A/C contractor. It's going to come down to that anyway.
If you want to stand and fight, you could buy a $100 window unit to keep your daughter cool in the meantime.

Today I received a call from a supervisor(Grisel ext. 2384) at 1st american home buyer co. guaranteeing me that a AC tech. would be coming out between 12-5. Well, guess what! it's 8:24pm and no one has showed up much less called. Three days have gone by without any AC contracter.
Yes, I'm sure that the AC techs. are busy but given that 1st american home buyers stated they only use one AC tech in our area (Boerne) I believe they should reevaluate their policy. I could have found an AC tech the very 1st day. We live 20 min. outside the 3rd largest city in Tx. There are plenty of AC companys.
The warranty co. guarantees that they will provide service after 36hrs. They just can't guarantee same day or by noon the next day.
Yes, The AC was inspected last Sept. when we closed and has been working fine for the last seven months.

Considering the record high temperatures in Texas the past few days, don't you think that the AC technicians are quite busy right now?
You did only make the call to the warranty company less than 36 hours before you posted.
Was the AC working when you had the home inspector check out your home before closing?
