First American Home Warranty has been a nightmare to deal with. They chose a contractor/company to install a replacement water heater in our home - not only did the contractor not pull a permit, he hired technicians that were not covered under Worker's Comp. Beyond that the water heater was damaged prior to install, everything was incorrect about the hookup and the wrong materials were used. Our hot water has not worked now in two weeks, and they have attempted to send out technicians from this company three times - each never showing up - all without worker's compensation (and they are aware of this) - leaving us more than open for a lawsuit if they were to be hurt. Additionally, the water heater that was installed could have caused a fire - and the fix that they were looking for via this contractor, would have either caused our water heater to explode or our home to go up in flames. We have yet to get any concrete answers from anyone - and cannot get clarification from the company as to what the next step should be. Just to replace the water heater itself will cost $1500, and this does not include all of the other problems that they caused (just property damage).

This has been a horrible experience - We have tried faxing each member of the company all of the information, but it seems like their fax numbers always change, or the ones listed on the web site are actually people's residential numbers.

We have tried everything to rectify this situation - but with have had no help, other than taking countless days off to meet with technicians that never show up... and First American doesn't even see the need for a permit, even though it is required in our County.

This is the single worst experience that we have ever had in our life - especially knowing that the representative, legal, or supervisors that you need to speak with are there - and they don't return your calls - all we need are answers.

Don't use them - it would have been cheaper and easier without ever knowing about a Home Warranty Company.
