Complaint Review: First American Leisure Credit Card

About 2 months ago my husband was called by a telemarketer from ALCC selling a Mastercard with a credit line of $2,500 for a one time payment $199.90 plus a free vacation in Florida for accepting it.

Money was taken out of our account on the 16th July 2002 ($199.90) plus $10 monthly charge which was not mentioned when ordering. On the 23rd July 2002 my husband called the company to see what happened to the card as we had not yet received it and told it was a pre-paid Mastercard, which is totally useless to us as we have a debit and credit cards already from our own bank and asked the representantive for a refund and to cancel the $10 monthly fee and was told they have a strict refund policy and that it was agreed to on tape which is bull!!!

We have no need for a pre-paid Mastercard and would never agree to it. On the 30th of July 2002 they tried to take another $10 but being so near to pay day we didn't have sufficient funds in the bank which caused us to have a $27.50 over limit fee my husband called again to ask them to cancel it and inquired about a refund again, but got no joy and ask to speak to the supervisor or manager and was told they would get back intouch with us within 24 hours we are still waiting.

On the 8th of August 2002 they took another $10 out of our account and yet made another phone call with no joy.

We have lost $247.90 in total for something we didn't want or agreed to (and not even received) and probably have no chance of getting our money back I have reported them to the BBB hoping that no one else gets ripped off by their misrepresentation of the product they are selling
