Back in August of 1999 I received a pre-approval in the mail for a Visa card with a fee of $49.99. With in 3 weeks I received the card with a limit of $350.00, I never used the card because Of the intrest rate so I call and tell them to cancel the card I as well mailed them the card.

3 months later I received another card and I call them and state that I do not want anything to do with the Bank. Well now I have this bill that is $1175.00 along with that It is showing up on my credit reports which is effecting my credit rating. I need some type of help.

You didn't say whether or not you paid the initial $49.00 for the card. If not, is that what they have been adding interest to in order to make it that amount? If you did pay the initial $49.00, canceled the first and second card and have did not use either of them, file a dispute with the credit reporting agencies, carbon copy to your Attorney General's office and the FTC as well as First Bank of Marin.

If these charges are fraudulent, you should contact your local police department and file fraud charges in case someone else used either of the cards you canceled. If you are not sure what the charges are for, you need to contact First Bank of Marin and request they send you an itemized billing statement for the account. Send everthing certified mail, return receipt requested. Keep a copy for yourself in case anyone claims the information was "lost". You have your back up copies.
