First Capital Consumer Credit Group ripoff con artist fake ripoff rude unknown Ontario
Well I received a call today by someone representing First Capital Consumer Credit Group. He asked me if I had filed out an application with in the last couple of months and that I was eligible for 2 credit cards, a Master Card with a maximum limit of $1,500 and a Visa with a maximum limit of $2,000.
After asking him a few cursory questions he began asking me some personal information. Nothing really exciting, just the basic information you can garner using a good old fashion telephone book or mailing list.
After reading back my general info, he turned around and asked if I was over 18 and if I had a bank account. I agreed and he proceeded to ask for the routing number of the account.
I told him that I didn't feel that he needed that information. I pointed out that the RTN [routing number] was all that was needed to withdrawal money.
He turned around and pressed the fact that no one was going to withdraw money from my account without permission. I told him it doesn't matter, my permission or their permission, with the routing number they can withdrawal money from my account anytime they felt like it.
He assured me it was for 'verification purposes only'. He gave me the number to customer service [416-488-4664] and told me that they would call me back. He then asked for the routing number again. When I objected he turned around and asked for the routing number for my savings account. I told him the same rules apply, with the RTN they can withdrawal money from account anytime they felt. I told him I didn't have any issues with that provided I had the card in my hand and some documentation.
The agent paused for a few seconds, let out a grown and hung up the phone. When I attempted to call back he would just hang up the phone without dispensing the usual greetings. I turned around and called the customer service number it sounded more like a bar or a night club on the other end despite answering the phone with, "Capital One, yea?"...
Thats when I did a reverse number lookup and couldn't find any information. I later took the customer service number and rant it through google and voila, I found this site along with a couple of hundred others *grin*

Here is a sample of their misleading mailer. Their phone solicitation is more direct, telling consumers they will receive a Visa Card.
