This company phoned my home in mid May, they told me about this $2500.00 unsecured credit card, could choose either Master Card or Visa. The guy rattled off all the advantages, 0% interest for the first 6 months and only 1.9%, or something like that, after the six month period, Also, I was told about the $500.00 cash advance available to me, etc.etc. It sounded okay until after I had given them the information to debit this from my checking account. I was in the middle of the taped confirmation and I heard the voice say for every $100.00 you deposit... then I knew the card was not unsecured so I told them NO, I do not want this card and I hung up. I didn't have the money in my account at that time so I had told them to debit my account on 5/29/02. I didn't put any money in the bank until 5/30/02, which was a Saturday, so I knew it wouldn't post until late Monday. The debit went through anyway on the 29th so I was really overdrawn after they took $219.00 out of my account. I asked my bank why they would let a debit be taken out when there were insufficiant funds, they told me it was a common practice. I have tried, unsucessfully, to talk to someone in this company. All I ever get is a recording, telling me that all representatives are currently busy and to leave a brief message or a recording telling me the mailbox of First Capitol consumer's Group is full. I would appreciate your help in retrieving my losses and I will help you in anyway I can to do this.I will even file charges against this company for fraud, theft and any other charges I can file. Thank you. Lindalee Muncie, Indiana

#2Consumer Suggestion

Go back to your bank and explain to them that you did not authorize them to debit from your account and also ask to fill out a "dispute form." Also ask your bank to put a stop from this company from again debiting from your account. However, I must warn you the stop may not always work. This company has many ways to access your account and will again try to take your money.

I fell for this scam to and lucky for me my bank worked with me. I filled out the dispute form and less than a week after, my bank got my money back. I never heard from Capital First corporate like they claimed I would. It is suggested to contact the company first (Capital First) and try to get them to cooperate but all they do is stall because they know that they can keep you waiting until it is to late. If it has not exceeded a 30-60 day time period depending on your banks policy, your bank should work with you. It is my understanding that Capital First or any other scam does not want to deal with the big corporations.

Also send back the packet if you were sent one because they consider it their property. One more thing back to this company trying to get your money any way they can. I received 2 peices of mail after I had received my money back. The mail was from an autoclub membership and a Mega Saver. They were again going to debit from my account another $99 and 54.90. They are both affiliated if not just another way for Capital First to take your money. After about 8 phone numbers later I was supposedly able to cancel but that did not stop me from closing my account and opening a new one. You should to.

I contacted the BBB and my states Attorney General. Consider contacting them. Good luck and I need Nothing in return. Hope this helps.
