Complaint Review: First Capital Consumers Group

On March 2, 2002, I received a phone call from a representative of First Capital Consumers Group named Kari, who offered me a pre-approved Visa or MasterCard credit card with a $5,000 credit limit.

She stated all that I had to do was let them draft my checking account for $219.00 and I would receive my credit card by March 19, 2002. Needless to say, I did not receive the card!!

After making numerous phone calls to the phone numbers that Kari had given me which she said were toll-free calls located in Buffalo, New York, I got no where!!!

Then when I received my next phone bill, I learned that the supposedly toll-free number was actually an international phone number in Canada and I had a phone bill containing over $100.00 for these supposedly toll-free calls!!!

Finally, on April 29, 2002, I received a packet of information in the mail containing a welcome packet and enrollment form card which I promptly completed and return to them on April 30. They stated that I would receive my credit card within the next three weeks.

Then, on June 28, I received a "temporary Empire Advantage MasterCard" which wasn't a real credit card at all!!! You have to deposit money in an account. Then, depending on how much money you deposit, you have that much "credit" on the card to use.

That is not a credit card at all!!!!!

I have written numerous letters and made numerous phone calls to no avail!

As far as I am concerned, they are con artists and a fraud!!!

As a single working mother, I am very disappointed that someone would take advantage of me in this way. I hope no one else was conned by these con artists.
