In January 03' I received in the mail two checks from FCNB with an offer that if I were to use these checks I would get a reduced rate of 5% until the end of my billing cycle in July 03'.

I decided to use one of the checks on March 8th 2003'. I then received in the mail on March 10th a "NOTICE OF TERMINATION.." from the company. In the contents of the letter I was advised that they weren't going to honor the checks if they were received after March 7th!

I picked up the phone to call customer service to find the phone line busy for about an hour. I then called the customer service for orders and was advised the company had filed chapter 11 and I was given an alternate number to call. I called the new number and after at least a five minute hold spoke to the most unprofessional woman who must have been reading from a script.

None of my questions were answered. The told me they didn't forsee this coming so they can't be held responsible for the $1000 check I had written. I demanded that they at least waive my interest fee for the remaining balance on my card I was told they couldn't do that.

I am going to be faxing a letter to the president of FCNB Jim Houston @PO BOX 2650 to see what can be done.
