FCNB is now owned by BB&T.

I settled an FCNB account through Plaza Associates collection agency in November of 2000. I have all supporting documentation: letters from the collection agency as well as FCNB stating that the account was "settled in full". I also have the cancelled check.

How do I contact this deadbeat company to have my credit report updated?

Probably the best (and easiest) thing to do would be to dispute the account status with the credit bureau... When the investigation is complete and the information updated, send a copy to the credit card company certified mail. If, at any point in the future, they re-report it after they have received your documents, you can file suit against them for knowingly reporting false credit information. (I went through this with another company)
