First Consumers National Bank Rip-off Termination of Charging Privileges

Based on the reports that I have read, there is no surprise that I received a "Notice of Termination of Charging Privileges" four days before the effective date of termination. According to the notice, "FCNB is terminating the credit privileges of all of its MasterCard card and Visa card accounts for business reasons..."

In the two and a half years that I have had my account, with its inflated interest rates, I, too, have incurred numerous fees: late fees, $8.00 for a payment by phone, and several overlimit fees assessed mid-cycle, once due to an annual fee being posted to the account.

In spite of the fees, the termination caught me off guard because of recent activity on my account: my credit limit was increased (again), I was "awarded" a month with no payment necessary (which I paid anyway), and as recently as last month, I received a certificate for Accidental Death and Dismemberment Insurance paid in full by First Consumers National Bank.

I guess when it comes to credit card companies, we have to be prepared to take the bitter with the sweet.
