Well after paying 150.00 for my visa card from FNBM, my credit limit was 250.00 that left me with a credit limit of 100.00 for paying 150.00? I was 18 at the time and not to aware of scams and "the small print" so to say. Well I am 21 years old now and still have an open balance of 215.00 at FNBM. 3 years and still not payed off.

I cut the card after the second year, and STILL recieved fee on purchases HAH. I pay on my credit card every month, but with the fees after fees after fees I am right back were I started, I never thought of this place being a scam, other people I knew thought it was but I was young and very dumb. I am glad to see I wasn't the only one that felt a little curious about FNBM.

I was looking actually for the website on a search engine on the web when I stumbled across this web page, very interesting. I want to know if there is any information I can recieve by email to possibly get some of my money back or to get my card and all the fees on it taken care of, prob about 90% of the money that is on the card is from fees after fees after fees.

I know I am not alone in this issue, if anyone has any information, please email me at my work , any information even the smallest will be able to help me in my quest.

Thank You

Do what one of the other rebuttals said: Pay off the account as soon as possible. Do not continue paying the minimum or even a little more each month. That's what the credit card companies want you to do.

Try this however, close the account, if you have not already done so. Next, call the company and just ask them what the principle amount on the account is. Tell them that you will pay the account in full, but only the principle amount. They customer service representative will then put you on hold so she can go approve it with her manager. She will come back and say either that it is fine, or try to make you pay a small additional amount on top of the principle. Depending on how much, just eat the cost and pay the amount requested.

Before she has time to tell you where to mail the check to, tell her than you want the amount that was agreed upon in writing, as well as a letter stating what will be noted on your credit report (i.e. - "Account Closed. Payed as Agreed." (Good) or "Account Paid for Settled for Less than Full/Actual Amount" (Bad)).

The first example, obviously the better of the two, should be told to the customer service representative that is what you would like the note to say on your credit report and that is what should be written into this letter they should send you.

Then tell her/him to include the address of where to send the payment with the aforementioned letter.

They may put up a fight, but fight right back - remember, they're taking YOUR money. I am sure that I did not state this very clearly, or as clearly as I could have, but I hope you understand and it helps.

I was 18 when I received my first credit card when I went away to college, and it took me years to finally become free from that burden. I know that this worked in my situation, but I am not sure if the account need to be delinquent or not for this to work. Who knows? Give it a try it couldnt hurt. Best of luck.

I highly recommend paying off this card as soon as possible and chalking it up as a learning experience. These companies WANT YOU TO GET mad and not pay your bills. Then they will hike it up even more and you will have to pay even more or declare Bankruptcy which you do not want to do. Try to borrow money from a family member, friend or simply save up as much as you can and sacrifice for a few months to get it paid off. It will be the best thing you've ever done for yourself. Just think, a few hindred is no big deal comapred to a few thousand!

Go for it! AND, make sure you read the fine print on anything you sign, EVER! There is always a fine print behind every place to sign your name!

PEACE,

I received two different credit card reports in the mail. They were going take out annual fee, deposit of $200 plus other fees with no balance left. Before getting into the signing. I got on the internet and ran across this section. And wanted to express myself. There should be some kind of suit that can give to these companies. My two was First National Bank of Marin and Peoples Credit First.
