Complaint Review: First Premier Bank

First Premier Bank Scam Sioux Falls South Dakota

I received an ad in the mail for a 0% credit card last year and decided to give them a call. About two weeks later, I got my card in the mail. To my astonishment, my credit limit was $250.00 and I already owed them $175.00 in fees. I immediately called to cancel the card and try to avoid these fees but they refused to cancel it. I ended up spending the remaining $75.00 balance over the next week or two and have regretted it ever since.

Every time that I have commented on the extraordinary fees to someone at First Premier Bank over the phone they say that I am obligated to pay the fees because I have already used the card. To witch I reply that I tried to cancel it upon receiving it and was denied that opportunity.

I paid the entire balance of the card in January and asked that the account be closed. The woman that I talked to told me that I would no longer owe them anymore money and the card would be canceled. Here it is, not even April and I am getting calls telling me that I am over my limit and asking for a payment.

To make a long story short, I have spent $75.00, paid $250.00 and now apparently I still owe them over $300.00.

I really need help dealing with these people, a class action law suit would be good.

I will be contacting the South Dakota Attorney Generals office today.

Warren,

Look on the back of the credit card statement under Renewing Your Account. In this section, it tells you that if you close the credit card within thirty days from the mailing or delivery of the statement containing the fee (the $175.00), even if you use your card during that period, you may have the current billing and Annual Fee and monthly Participation Fee and Additional Card Fee (if applicable) credited to your account (the $175.00)

-Make a copy of the back of the statement.
-Highlight or underline the Renewing Your Account section.
-Fill out the Notification of Disputed Item and check the Other.
-Attach a letter telling them that you closed the account on this date, any other dates that you called to close the account, and which department and person(s) you spoke to, and that it was within thirty days of receiving the statement or before the statement with the fee charges and that under their Renewing Your Account section, you don't owe the fees!
-Mail this to them certified to their address.

Also, file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau in that area and file a complaint with the Attorney General's Office. And, if you can, besides filing a complaint online, mail it to the BBB and the Attorney General's Office too.

Also, check you credit report and if they have reported you to a credit bureau file a report with them to dispute the charges.

Good Luck,
Charles

P.S. make sure you keep a copy of what you send them and no matter who you talk to at the bank in the future, get their full name, their department, note the time and date and what you talked about.

Obviously you did not bother to read the terms & conditions of the card you accepted. The upfront fees are all CLEARLY stated in the application process.
