First Texas Home RIPOFF REASONS: UPGRADE PRICES, WORKMANSHIPS, CUTTING CORNERS, ZERO SUPERVISION Grand Prairie Texas
Please let me make this report short and simple. I made a mistake not to check this company reputaion online and signed a contract to built my home in January of '08. It was a disaster experiences.
First(Last in my opinion)Texas intentionally attract their customers by showing large home for the low prices. I later found that their upgrade prices for the home were extremely exagerated compared to the new builder I found. For example, they charged me $9/sq ft of concrete for the addin patio slab when M only charged me $4/sq ft. There were too may upgrades that they overcharged when other builder is either included in their prices or offer with reasonable prices.
WORKMANSHIP: First Texas in Grand Prairies, Lynn Creek Hill, to be exact hired unfriendly builder who's always appeard to be in a hurry even when we had a redline meeting appointment with him, he always brushed us off. I checked the job site every day and found to my amagements, loose beams, broken and partially nails, too many mistakes on airduct routings, drilling mistakes in AC wire routing that do not repair, cracks, defective wood being used in the framing, etc.
CUTTING CORNERS: First Texas used cheap materials to build the home. For example, the beam under the gameroom were spacing over 2.5 feets apart and they used solid wood which is very uneven, thus caused squeeking noises later. Other builders used Engineering wood which is perfectly straight to support the second floor and only spaced 18 inches apart., thin paper-cardboard surround the perimeters instead of foams. etc.
UNSUPERVISING: Two months into building my home when only the roof, shingle, frames, Electrical were installed, I experienced a huge water leaks from the rain at my Master Bdrm bay window. I told the saleperson(he won't let me talk directly to the builder) and his reply was don't worry, the builder will get to it. Three weeks later, no repaire has been done. I brought this up again while the builder was in the same room, he told me that he has not being in the home since the begining, but he will take a look at it later. So, the whole 2 months while my home being built, no supervisor check or direct the building processes. I was very shock and disappointed. BTW, there were many more defective items occurred by human errors that can't be mention here due to space and time, one of my fav is the mistake that the airduct tech routed that result in the losing of my linen closet.
DISGUSTED: The sale manager, the saleman and the builder all of whom told me that the redline blue print was locked in the builder's office and was never make available to the build supervisor(the person who actually doing the job). They insisted that the builder is doing their building jobs based on the original blueprint, then they will correct their mistake at a later times....juk.
I also read from ripoffreport.com that First Texas has been know to be very slow in respond to the warranty complains. With all of these negative facts, I decided the hell with my earnest deposite, I fire First Texas and go for another builder whom I am very happy and excited to move in to my new home, hopefully in August of this year('08)
