I have been involved in a dispute with First Usa since September and so here it is. I used a convenience check from my credit union card to pay off $2000 on my first USA account (my other credit card has a permanent low rate and I thought it would save me money). Boy was I wrong!!!

First of all, my check was sent on Aug. 4, 1999 and cashed on Aug. 20, 1999 (I have my credit union summary). Beginning of September, I noticed that my credit union had been debited but nothing happened on my First Usa (Mileage Plus United Airlines) visa. I called and was told to get copy back and front of the check. As it was a convenience check, it took a couple of weeks. I send called on Sept. 28 and was told to send all information to an office in Carol Stream, Illinois. I did it the same day. I was promised that all charges will be waived (late payment fees etc...). Next statement period, I have no temporary credit and nothing seems to have been done. I then called a couple of operators and was told not to worry as the Correspondance Office would certainly received this letter from Carol Stream (BTW, I was then told that this was the wrong office). November comes and nothing. But I get a form letter (no answering to my previous 3 letters) asking for copy of the check back and front. I called and told them that a) it was their mistake b) they should look for that letter etc... I was told a) not their problem, 2) can be resolved only if copy of the check is sent, 3) do not care anyway. I then requested a copy of that check again and kept on calling and sending letters. No one ever bother to answer me or call me back. In December, because of the holidays season, there was a delay in crediting my checking account and my minimum payment for First USa bounced. I got a letter asking for a fee of $29 for a 133$ check on January 4. The same day, I had managed to get my credit union representative to send all the necessary information by fax to First USA.
Then, with all due respect, the s**t hit the fan at this precise moment. I called and told them that it would be a cold day in Hell before I pay anything. I then filed a complaint with an US agency for fraud, wrote 2 letters to the head honcho (Bill Boardman) and calling back again told them that I will not pay anymore until it was resolved.
Regards
