Five Star Capital Inc. Sent me a "Platinum lease Card" - unwanted, unrequested, fishy ... San Diego California
I thought that years ago there was a Federal law against sending unsolicited credit cards in the mail - yet here in today's mail is something called a "Platinum Lease Card" for my business (I am self-employed and freelance with a d/b/a ID in my home State, and I do not borrow to finance my business). It tells me "for my protection" the card gas been "sent inactive" and gives me a number to call to activate it. Probably calling it a "lease card" lets the sender skirt around the ban on sending out credit cards that have not been requested.
Maybe sending me this unwanted and unsolicited "lease card" in the mail is legal but it certainly isn't ethical, and in today's tough economic times i wonder how many people are led into getting into some hideous debt difficulty by activating this card?
It's really important to stop your ID from being sold and resold ... I recommend CatalogChoice.com to help stem the flow of unwanted catalogs and also attempt to prevent the sale and resale and re-re-sale of IDs for addition to sales lists ...
