Five Star Engine Chris and Martha Smith Defective Mechanical Workmanship Glendale Arizona
I have a serious problem with a local engine rebuilding shop in Glendale Arizona, that re-sold me my parts that were on my engine, and I have all the receipts. The Glendale Police Department are currently undergoing an criminal investigation along with the Arizona Department of Revenue Criminal Investigations.
If you check the Maricopa County Court records, Facebook feedback, Rip-off reports, Mr. Chris and Martha Smith DBA Five Star Engines have an extensive history of people they ripped off.
My new engine looks and runs like junk, leaks, makes valve train noises, electrical wires not hooked up, oil sensor light on, Ford red fluid in a Chevy green fluid car, burnt up a new AC Delco starter by not wrapping to keep the headers heat away, my new intake and other parts look like they were drug behind a car, chipped my custom paint, and have black overspray paint on it from something else... and on and on. Plus this shop even charged me for (2) two $70 dollar oil changes and didn’t collect a single penny of sales tax on anything.
Plus Five Star made home-made motor mount brackets that they welded to the frame and are not ASME code. This part is an over the counter part and is a bolt on, not a weld to the frame. From my conversations with Jeg’s Speed Shop and others, this engine might rip them out and could cause a wreck. These parts are bolt on and cost under $70 from Jeg's and I was charged $250 for junk that misplaces the drive train.
As I requested verbally and in writing several times, I wanted ALL of the parts that were removed from my 1968 Chevy Mark IV 402 cid engine boxed and returned.
Parts not returned:
Cam bearings
Rod bearings
Main Bearings
Howard Cam
HV Oil Pump
Oil screen
Scat Piston rings
Oil Pump Screen
Mechanical Workmanship Deficiencies:
1) Chipped paint on the engine block, brackets, and intake
2) Chipped paint around the complete engine compartment
3) Fluid leaks
4) Valve train noise
5) Ford red fluid instead of Chevy green coolant
6) In dash Oil sensor light not working now
7) Improper motor cross member motor mounts
8) Welding on the frame with no A.S.M.E certifications
9) Hoses rubbing on suspension bolts
10) Kinked fuel line
11) Zip ties holding spark plug wire off of header
12) Failure to wrap a New AC Delco starter and burnt it up
13) All the ac fittings left open to the atmosphere and contaminated the system
14) Incorrect Dyno stats, 4.125 bore and is a 4.155 bore, and a carb that produced max. air flow of 546 CFM
I waited for 5 months, spent $6,674.34, and all of Five Star Engine work has to be re-done. Sure the owner Mr. Chris Smith has a lot of excuses, but is not a man of honor that anyone can trust.
