Complaint Review: Five Star Movers

We were down to the wired with moving and called a couple of moving companies to check prices and their rates were the same and most of all they had availability. The day of the move they showed up late and when they arrived (three men one superviosor and 2 helpers)the supervisor took a look around and right off the bat he walked into our guest bedroom which was glass and black laquer and told us that each piece would be an additional 35.00 for special wrapping. Problem 1.

We should have been advised or asked if we had any special furniture that would acquire some special assistance. Well what could we do we had to move out because we had renters moving into our place. Problem 2. The supervisor proceeding to tell us about their contract which stated that we would have to pay them in full when we arrived at our new home before our furniture was taken off the truck.

This thew up a red flag but once again what could we do we had to move. Well 2-3 hours into the move my husband is furious because nothing was loaded on the truck and they we all moving like snails. They were stopping, talking,resting and it was only 3hours. My husband told them they were not hussling and they were not. The supervisor spent his whole time in one room just hanging out and trying to look busy I think this was in hopes that he would not have to help the others.

Well as time went on our renters showed up ready to move their things in needless to say we were not were to an end. One of the movers kindly paused his moving funtions and began chatting with her and later we found out that they had exchanged numbers....Hello...All of this was costing us money.

Five hours later we are moving from a 2 bedroom basement apartment with living room,office,small bathroom. All this to say this was not a full house. We boxed up everything and we moved our clothes and personal items ourselves the night before. Well 10miles away from our house to our condo after 5 hours we arrive at our new condo and was then advised it was going to take an additonal 2-3 hours for them to unload and we needed to pay.

Well it took 5 hours to moved but now it was only going to take them 2-3 hours to get it off the truck. After they told us that our total for the addtional hours that they thought it was going to take to unload was now at a wopping $700.00. Needless to say we were very upset. We called the home office and no answer and we called back several times to try to speak with someone.

Then we asked the supervisor was there a number we could call to discuss this matter because he very rude and sarcastic and all he wanted was the money. Well once we told the supervisor we were going to call the police he immediately called someone and told them what the was going on.

We then called the police (which took them 1hour to arrive)and we were so kindly told by one of the movers that we would have to pay for this time as we wait as well. When the police arrived after talking with the supervisor and us (myself and husband) seperately he told us that clearing this was a shaddy company but they had laws to protect them and we still had to pay.

He gave us good advice that the next time we use a company first we should check it out and see if they have complaints and that good moving companies come out to your house and give you an estimate.
After all the time that was spent wrapping our furniture we discovered we had minor damage to our furniture and then some of it was not even put together.

Not to mention that they were not able to get all of our things from the old house which meant not only did we get rip off we still had to move things after the matter. We received no call from the company after our numerous messeges we left with them on the day from hell.
