flagstaff 4x4/ accubrake. full price, half the goods
took my '89 ford ranger 4x4 to them to replace the automatic locking hubs with manual hub conversion kit from warn. after the work was done and paid for,227.99 parts, 70.00 labor, a couple weeks later i was under the truck doing a lube job and changeing the oil. at that time i noticed the front drive axle had fallen out of the back of the spindle! if i would of put the transfer case in gear who knows what would have happened.
after pulling the wheel off and taking the assembly apart i noticed that the lock nut kit that was an extra charge on the shop's bill was not even installed! my front wheels were attached to my truck by one nut, no locking device to keep them from coming off whenever they worked themselves loose! that doesnt take into account the axle shafts not even being attached.
they require a snapring andspacer that were not replaced when the work was done. i took the other front tire off and it was in the same condition. i went to the shop and told them about all this and they refused to show me the parts kit that was supposedly used on my truck. they also told me to come back later and they would take a look at it then.
i demanded they inspect it immediatly not knowing when my front tires might fall off, and was told they had other business to take care of, after the conversation got heated they told me to "show myself the door"! i went to the ford dealership and ordered the locking nuts to keep my wheels from falling off for another $55 dollars!

I am a customer of Flagstaff 4x4. These guys are honest, knowledgeable, and always take the time to answer all of my dumb questions, going out of their way to explain exactly what's going on with my truck. They replaced some corroded parts for me, saved the old parts, and gave them to me in a ziplock bag. They did some major front suspension work for me, charged me a third less than six other shops quoted me, and actually convinced me to buy some less expensive parts. You don't get slick eddy the salesman when you go in, you talk with the owner of the shop, John. It's a great shop, I haven't talked to anyone yet who doesn't think so.

The gentleman filing this report should have stated the real reason he filed! Within hours of his reported activities, while driving on E. Route 66 (main street Flagstaff) he severly rear-ended the vehicle in front of him, causing a three car accident--right in front of our shop! He undoubtedly blamed this on us too. Looked like he totaled his vehicle--hope no one was hurt. So how does he get revenge? He vents on this site, spewing half-truths. The guy is a hothead, came into our shop unannounced demanding that we do this and do that, RIGHT NOW! We offered to check our work and his complaint, but that wasn't good enough for him.
If we did what he stated (which we did not), we wouldn't be in business. In fact, we found out about his report to this site from a new customer who "looked us up" here before bringing his truck in for a suspension lift and much other work. He had heard so much good "word of mouth" about us, he came anyway and left satisfied. You can't please em all, but the return customers that have kept us in business for a decade speak louder than Mr. '89 Ranger! Don't believe everything you read from some ticked-off knucklehead looking for someone to blame for his self-induced misfortune.
