Complaint Review: Flamingo Appliance Service

Do not use Flamingo Appliance Service, unless you enjoy NOT having phone calls returned and paying ASTRONOMICAL prices for unnecessary repairs.   We own a 4 year old Jenn Air gas range and live in the Bradenton, FL area.  The surface burners were not always lighting and the oven bake burner was not coming to full temperature.  Jenn Air recommended that we use Flamingo Appliance Service. Big mistake! They charge $98.00 to come out and diagnose the issue and the fee isn’t applied to any agreed upon repairs.  Their technician took 5 minutes and decided that the entire oven had to be rebuilt for a total cost of $1,307.00. No explanation as to why or how a 4 year old appliance would fail. No attempt was made to clean a clogged burner or make any other simple repair.

 I called Flamingo the next day for a copy of the written repair estimate since one was not provided on the day of service. Customer Service said they would send my request for an estimate to their IT department?  Two days later and another phone call to customer service, I received the written estimate- new burner base ignitors and caps, new ignitor and bake and broil valve and regulator, $1,307.00.

I called the Jenn Air repair line and they agreed that this estimate simply did not make sense. We could by another appliance for this price and a 4 year old range should not have to be rebuilt. I called Flamingo to speak with a manager and was told they were busy and will call back. 5 days later, no returned call.  I called again and was told the same thing.  I never received a returned call or an explanation.

Since this time, we had the range repaired by a wonderful company called Affordable Appliance Repair.  They came out the same day, only charged $45.00 for the diagnosis and the fee was applied to the repair. They simply cleaned all the surface burners and replaced a $65.00 part, the oven ignitor.  Total cost was $250.00.

Flamingo Appliance Service is only in business to take your money. Never use them.
