I picked up a car that was in service for over a week for a friend of mine andhad to pay for the oil change on his behalf.  Two months later I get a credit alert from awesome Capitol One asking me if the charge was valid.  I reported as fraud because I jave not been to this dealer other than to pick up a car two months ago.  I decided to call the dealer and ask if anyone came in to pay for something with a credit card number on a piece of paper or something. After being passed around a few times, I had an idiot employee get on the phone and started laughing at what they did.

I was livid not just from the laughing but apparently the person who had the loaner car during the days their personal car was in service racked up a toll charge and Flammer Ford did not have their credit card information but they had mine!  Robert still thought the situation was funny and I told him he used my card without my knowledge or authorization and I reported the card and closed it.

So I'm now laughing becasue I am not paying for a toll bill that was never mine and should sue them for holding onto my credit card information for two months!!

Fortunately my credit card company, Capitol One notifies me with any activity that is outside the norm for my use and I was alerted right away.  That is the only way I was able to catch it so quickly.  Good advise on the Police Report, I will do that for sure!  In today's high alert of identity theft, it is just shocking that a business such as a large as this Car Dealership is so negligent with such personal information!

It is a good thing that you were able to get this charge removed through the dispute process with Capital One as stated in your complaint. However, in this particular instance, I think you should go the extra mile and file a police report against the co and individual that used your credit card information for this false charge. It's outrageous that this dealership charged your card for someone else's expenses just because they kept your cc info on file. Consider changing the cc too as a preventative measure to keep that dealership from doing it again in the future.
