Complaint Review: Flat Rate Van Lines

WORST MOVING COMPANY EVER!!!! I am a former Marine and the son of a Marine, so I have moved every 3 years all of my life. I know first hand what a a real moving company should and should not be. Do not fall for the web site or automated phone service they most likely paid the majority of their money on. This is not a real moving company. These clowns were supposed to be at my house at 8 am and didn't show up until 11. The guy I talked to on the phone named James told me they were professional uniformed movers that were not day laborers. They had a tractor trailer for a moving truck and that was all a lie. I told him I had a 4 bedroom house over 6000 sq feet and they showed up in a budget rental truck only big enough to move a 2 bed room apartment. 10 min after being in the house one of them asked me to buy him pizza because he was hungry and I told him no, so he moped around for a couple of hrs until finally the guy in charge begged me to call a pizza place. It got so bad at one point the punk started looking at me like he wanted to fight because I told him no. Needless to say I was packin too! (pun intended) I was waiting for something to jump off, you would of picked the wrong one that day essay! When I tried to call their office to tell them what was going on no one answered the phone. I left several messages for someone to call back and no one did. Long story short it cost $1280 they wouldn't take my stuff off the truck until I paid, they put a hole in the wall at the old house and acted like it was no big deal. When I wanted to talk to the owner he gave me some bogus web site to file a claim. A day later I noticed a hole in our leather couch from where they used a knife to take off the plastic wrap. One of the little bastards took a dump in the downstairs bathroom stinking up the house!

Then when we got to the new house they put all my boxes in the middle of the floor, only put together 2 of my beds, and left packing trash all over the old and new house. No inventory was done and I still had to go back with a trailer to get the rest of my stuff..... They whined because my couches had to go down in the finished basement of the new house and broke out a tape measure saying they would fit threw the doorway. I called friends over and we got it all in. 8 hrs later and less than 8 miles down the road, they only moved 3 beds 4 sectional couches and a couple of boxes. I should of called the police when this was all going down. Learn from my mistake and stay far away from these crooks!!! Stick with the big name companies, they might cost more but at least you will be satisfied and taken care of. I have made it my personal mission to see that no Military or Government Agency employee ever uses or is referred to this company.
