This started out as a free trip to Florida, July 2010 with an agreement to sit through a 90 minute presentation. We thought it was another time share thing and of course we were not going to buy! The presentation was great. There were promises of deal to travel at very reasonable prices! The annual dues seemed much better than the time share maintenance fees.

My husband and I decided to buy, trading in a time share in Ft. Lauderdale for part of the payment.
Things seemed to go well until it was time for FBD to pay the maintenance fee which was due in Jan. 2011. I receive a letter from the time share stating the maintenance was over due and there were late fees! Called the Daytona office (the only number I have to speak to a real person) and spoke to Randy. He was going to take care of it and call me back. Didn't hear back and thought it was taken care of until I got another letter from the time share requesting the maintenance by July 14, 2011 or it would be turned over the collections!

I called FBD again and spoke to Jennifer who put me on hold for about 10 minutes then said Randy the manager would call me back. Five days later I called back and was put through to his voice mail. I called again and gave another name and he got on the phone. He said the time share closing people messed up the paperwork and he put in a call to Nancy who was going to get things straightened out and then FBD would pay the maintenance fees and the late fees ( this is in the contract I signed).
I called TimeShare Closing Services and spoke to Holly who said all paperwork was complete long ago.
On June 28th, 2011 I received a call from my friend Randy and he said he was meeting with corporate in the morning and they would determine how they were going to pay the fees???
I tried to get him on Fri July 1st but I guess it was going to be a long holiday for him!

I left for vacation on 7/6 and while I was away Randy called me on my cell! He wanted me to pay the maintenance fees with a credit card and he would send me a check as soon as corporate released the money?. Ok, I've been really stupid I know but I finally caught on and said no. He said no problem they would get a "check in the mail" and it would be waiting for me when I got home.

I'm home. Been here for four days and no check, called Randy and no Randy. Today 7/19 I spoke to Mark who was sitting in for Randy and he said the check was sent on Thursday 7/14 to my home.
As you can see this is not working as I was promised.

The deals it looks like you can get are last minute get a ways. If you plan forget it and the $3000.00 in hotel rewards, well you can only use a few dollars of it to "buy down" when you book. I didn't do that because I get better prices on other sites. And as another FBD ripoff victim wrote they will match the deal if you find it.

Stay away from these people. It's bad news. I wish I was still in Florida now. I would drive up to Daytona and warn people going to the presentation.... then go find RANDY THE RIP OFF!

Hope this helps you from getting ripped off!

Unfair Complaint

A simple misunderstanding resulted in this complaint being filed. Florida Beach Destinations does not accept timeshares as part of payment for our vacation club membership. This customer traded-in a timeshare to Timeshare Closing Services, not Florida Beach Destinations. Our office was 100% under the impression Timeshare Closing Services paid the 2011 maintenance fees. They did not which is how this situation occured.

Upon learning the maintenance fees had not been paid and the account was set to go to collections, Florida Beach offered to pay the maintenance fees to resolve the situation. We told the customer we'd reimburse them if they went ahead and made the payment. Due to a miscommunication, we told the customer the reimbursement check had been sent out prior to us doing so. I explained the discrepancy to the customer and sent the reimbursement check out immediately via UPS. The customer has since received and deposited the check.

While this customer experienced an inconvenience which we are truly sorry about - the situation has nothing to do with the program we provide our members. We have an excellent customer satisfaction rating with happy members throughout the world.
