Complaint Review: Florida Cracker Plumbing

I worked for Brent for two and a half years just ending June 2012, he and Sandra were very professional in business, this guy is an idiot.I met him once and all he tried to do was bash Brent.He trying to start his own business under what he learned from Brent but definitely doing it the wrong way.I was never told to upsell and customers always know the price upfront. I was always paid ontime and what i was owed, in fact when i left the state i had my last pay sent too me, does this sound like a bad business.When you need a good plumber call Florida Cracker Plumbing, too bad this guy won't say what his fly by night company is called,Loser Plumbing Inc

LOL.  Amazing how someone can be so consistently wrong and full of lies.  It is too exhausting to refute every point, but this should suffice.  

Greg McGillivray ran all operations and formulated payroll for both Piranha Plumbing and Florida Commercial Plumbing.  If this guy ever really did work for Greg, then I'm sure Greg treated him fairly.  This guy is no doubt just another unlicensed contractor who got caught, or maybe he did shoddy work and Greg had to reimburse the customer.    

No one I've ever been associated as a license holder or owner has ever been in trouble with the DBPR.  Labor Board never has had a problem.  The Better Business Bureau has never had a problem.  Hmmm.  I'm guessing there is a reason for that.  Yep.  You treat the customer right and your employees right and that's what happens.

Never owned a company (or been a license holder) in Tennessee.  More lies, anyone?

The plumbing industry is filled with ex-employees who either ripped somebody off and got busted for it or did unlicensed work.  A couple are bound to be especially vindictive (and jealous) and make stuff up.  Whatever. This will be the last time I respond to this troll, regardless of what other rambling stupidity comes from his keyboard.   

I wanted to respond to Brent Phillips statement, "I do not have anything to do with Pirhana Plumbing" I only hold the license for them,  So are you going to blatantly lie to anyone that reads this post? 

Here are the facts, Brent Phillips is sort of telling the truth but in a very sneaky way, Brent has talked his Girlfriend in putting the company in her name in fact you can call the office right now and ask for Sandra and low and behold she will be there.

After Brent Phillips ruined the reputation he than had his dad put a new company in his name ie Florida commercial plumbing (FCP). Now this company was shut down for many reasons and didnt even make it a year.

Than Brent Phillips opened Florida Cracker Plumbing or FCP and he is quickly on his way to repeating his past...

Now prior to opening all these failed companies, Brent Phillips opened and failed several companies in Tennessee.

Brent Phillips is pure evil, he will and has screwed and cheated everyone that has tried to help him .

I have found posts on Craigslist talking about how Florida Cracker has ruined something in their home, how he has cheated them, bullied senior (I dont mean physically) he does his best to create misdirection with his responses and even attacked a women who thanked me for my post.

I pulled his information about Piranha Plumbing including online disputes, complaints and his
corporate filings that shows the owner (his Girlfriend Sandra)

Thank you so much for your post, my friend used them and it was a nightmare. They created such a mess and raised their price twice within an hour being at her home. When she decided she wanted a second opinion, the plumber told her she still owed them the money, when she told them they never finished the job the plumber told her he would leave her without water and call the sheriff. My friend called me and I spoke with the plumber on the phone and he explained she would be charged with theft of services, I later found out that didn't apply in this situation. At any event She called the office and spoke to 2 women Sandy or Sandra and someone else, she was assured that someone would call her back. It has been over 6 weeks and no one ever called her back.

I worked for Piranha Plumbing from March of 2006 till August of 2006,and regret not having quit working there sooner. Upon being hired I immediately had bad vibes about the work place environment considering they had been through over 100 service techs in less then 2 years and none of the other employees I met there had been with them longer then 6 months.

When hired I was told they were to supply the work van and all sewer cleaning tools, but when I started my first day I was told they were working on getting a van and all the sewer machines were in use or broken and I would be compensated for using my own van and sewer machine,being a trusting person I added on commercial insurance to my van and began using it for work along with my own drain cleaning machine as well.When the paycheck arrived I was in shock at how far off the numbers were, I was hired at the rate of 35 percent commission, not only was I not compensated for using my own van and tools { it should have been a higher commission rate} I was shorted over 1,400 dollars in pay along with being reimbursed for materials and permit fees which I paid out of pocket, I brought this to their attention and they straighten it out within 5-6 days.

What I encountered that first payday was the exact same thing that happen every two weeks at payday, constant bookkeeping errors, short pay checks,always having to wait an extra week for my money,even the money I spent out of pocket on materials and permit fees I had to beg and argue to be reimbursed with the numbers never adding up right. I began to see why no other plumbers had hung around long with these guys, while trying to get materials it was embarrassing to even tell the supply houses whom you worked for because they all were owned large outstanding charge accounts,some wouldn't even sell to us cash, most of the time you had to go to home depot or lowes and pay for materials out of pocket, I would expect this kind of behavior from a small derlick company, but this plumbing company has over 70 employees with shops in Tampa,Orlando,Sarasota,Naples, And Fort Myers.

Another thing that was alarming was the company's sales tactics, if you were sent out to a customers home and only fixed what was needed it was frowned upon,"called leaving money on the table", you were expected to make up sells,unnesasary repairs,use deceptive sales tactics such as cleaning sewer lines with the wrong size cable and no cutting blade,giving the customer a free warranty,to gain trust,all the while knowing the sewer line would back up again,they would call you back because of it being under warrantying returning is when the customer would be told they needed a complete sewer line replacement, when in fact all was needed was yearly cleaning.

Something else they may alarm consumers is most if not 75 percent of the techs working for these guys were not experienced plumbers, they will hire almost anyone off the street who is willing to use their own vehicle and tools,put them in a sort of plumbing class room, train them how to do sales and fill out paper work correctly and use a nextel radio, a quick 101 on plumbing repairsmthen turn them loose with none or little hands on experience,and 5-10 days of class room experiences of these guys do turn into good plumbers but they cause more problems their first couple months out do to inexperience and pass the bill onto the customer.

My last month working for these guys ,during my oncall night the dispatcher called and ask me if I could take a ride out to a very exclusive commercial customer,2 rookies had been there all day putting in a 80 gallon gas water heater and the country clubs maintenance director was losing patience with these kids, I spoke to one of the rookies on the radio and he said he could not get the water heaters pilot light to light up, I arrived 45 minute later and smelled gas immediately, in this 10 by 10 boiler room, I checked the gas valve to heater and sure enough the rookies had left it on while waiting for me!!!!There easily 100 guests in the dining room 20 yrds away,thank god this kid didn't hurt himself or any guests, well set up a fan outside the to blow in fresh air and an hour later I discovered one of the ignition wires had came loose on the heater, could have been a catastrophe.

I could go on and on about Piranha Plumbing but wont, I did quit working there after 4-5 months, turned all my uniforms in and radio promptly,Not surprisingly I never received my last pay check, for which I am owned close to 1,800 dollars, some may same I am a disgruntled former employee, but am not I just felt the need to let consumers or anyone considering working for this outfit to use caution.

Here is some good advice I learned when I was a kid, if you continue to have the same problem over and over and the same complaints over and over eventually you need to look at yourself and stop pointing the finger at everyone else..take some responsibility..and you should be ashamed of your self but guess you need a conscience first. 

......but Nancy's comment was too ridiculous to ignore.

Assuming the person isn't a troll or the original poster, here is a person who has no knowledge of my company or me, had never heard of me, and has never met me in person, but who blindly throws her hat in the ring- fighting corruption with the trod-upon whistleblower against the evil company.  It would be comical if it wasn't so tragic.

No wonder Al-Qaida is able to flourish.  They find gullible people like Nancy, fill their head full of garbage and then watch them passionately become a soldier of the cause.  Keep in mind that the original post is the ONLY thing she is basing her opinions on.  She is being wholly manipulated, and then actually ends up thanking him, railing against the Brent Phillips of the world based on a single post from a guy who didn't even sign it.  How mindless can somebody be?  Amazing stuff.

As for the original poster, he forgot to mention that I enjoy clubbing baby seals in my spare time.  I don't know if I stole his girlfriend or hurt his feelings.  Maybe he is just greedy and wants me to offer him money so that he will write good things about me.  I don't know what his deal is, but the entire original post is one lie or half-truth after another.  At least he got my name right.

The fact is that I didn't own Piranha Plumbing and I wasn't involved in operations.  I was the license holder.  The people that DID own and run it did so in an above-board fashion.  The Labor Board (which is pro-employee) would have made sure he got paid.  If he did work for PP, then maybe he never earned the money to begin with or maybe he was charged back for a customer refund because he messed up a job.  The truth is PP had a very good reputation and so does Florida Cracker Plumbing (FCP).  Go ahead, call those inspectors and find out for yourself.  Both companies treat their customers and employees very well.

FCP's clients are some of the biggest and best known throughout Florida.  They keep using us because we treat them right.  I have no Labor Board issues, either, because we pay people what they earned.

The original poster's last sentence says he is only trying to educate the consumer.  Whatever you have to tell yourself to sleep at night, man.  He is obviously very skilled at playing the victim and loves to blame others for his failings.  If what he says is true, where are all the others that were victimized, too?  The Internet is a place where anybody can make a fuss and be heard; whether they spout the truth or spout lies doesn't matter.  

In the Internet age, one guy can appear like many by having various IP addresses, paying others to complain, the list is endless.  But, we don't even have that here. What we have is one guy who claims there is a company with a horrible reputation who ripped him off.  If the company is so bad, then there would obviously be countless people who complained.  I mean, PP was supposedly so bad that plumbing inspectors and supply houses knew of their nefarious ways.  And, let's not forget that gouging sales tactics were taught, huh?  Again, original poster (who is too much of a coward to show his name), where are all these people at?  Show us some proof, man.  Let's see written affidavits from inspectors, get proof of my having a license in TN.  The problem is that you can't because all you are doing is making stuff up.  You should be sued for all the garbage that you have typed.

The truth is that there isn't an army of others because PP (as well as FCP) was/is an upstanding company. Though I wasn't involved in PP, it was owned and ran by good people.  I'm quite sure this isn't the first time that the original poster has been "screwed" by somebody.  The reason his life is in the pits is everybody else's fault but his.  You need to take a long look in the mirror, son, and ask the Good Lord for forgiven for making up blatant lies.  

And as for you, Nancy.  Get a life and let your views and opinions be based on your own observations and research.  You can be made to believe anything, without the slightest shred of proof.  And you may well be a parent who is her values to her kids.  What a scary thought.          

I just wanted to thank this man for taking the time out of his busy days to write this article.

So many people "know" that a scam or a rip off exists but they are so "busy" that they never get around to tipping off other folks. Trust me, if everybody was a decent as this fellow it would be a LOT more difficult for the Brent Phillips's of the world to continue their avocation!
