The Florida State Sales Tax department and the St Petersburgh Newspaper Company in Florida should be ashamed of their illegal actions. The newspaper carriers in florida are independant contractors that deliver the St Pete Times and other company papers. The carriers have their own business which is selling newspapers. They are being forced by the state and the St Pete Times to pay the sales tax on each paper when a customer buys one.

When you have your own business and you sell an item you have the right to collect the sales tax from the person who is purchasing the item that you are selling. The carriers in florida have paid out thousands of dollars in sales tax money to the state of florida out of their own pocket because the newsrack boxes can not collect the sales tax from the customer. The stores in florida that the carriers deliver to are entitled to collect the sales tax but the carriers that have newsrack boxes can not.

This has been going on for years and there are carrriers who have paid in the tens of thousands. I have written a book called NEWSPAPER DELIVERY UNMASKED which is on the internet for sale right now which exposes these thieves. There is another florida agency which also is a mess. I have gone to the media with this but they refuse to do anything about it when I have the proof. The people that are behind this theft need to pay for their knowingly ripping off these poor hard working people.
