Complaint Review: Florida Technical College

I had a very bad experience at the Deland campus and ended

up dropping school. My financial aid was messed up to the point that I even

lost Pell funds due to the incompetence of one of the advisors.  Her name is Jenifer Soto and she even

violated the law by asking me to use the last four digits of my social security

as PIN and filing forms online when I was not present. She never completed my

file and as a result I had to leave with a large balance. She is now at the new

campus in Kissimmee and a few friends of mine had the same experience with her.



I should register at that campus since the director is giving huge discounts

for students to return to school, that is how desperate they are to get

students in. They have criminals and even sex offenders attending the school.  If we all get together we can make sure that

justice is served and that they dont continue doing this to other students

that believed their lies. They should be ashamed of themselves!!!

enjoy the hefty price tag Summer. FTC is all about money. They have meetings with faculty everyday to talk about students dropping. They tie this to an instructors review. Yeah great school.

  I am very sorry to hear that your time at florida tech wasn't so great. I have attended the lakeland campus and i really enjoyed going to school there. The teachers, faculty and staff are amazing. They will go above and beyond and helped me through a lot of tribulations in my life. I have earned my education, worked very hard for it and I now have a great job at my fingertips. I think everyones perception of someone thing life can be different. Florida Technical College may not have been the best fit for you. It worked for me and for what I needed. I have a bunch of friends and classmates that attended the school and are very happy. I wish you the best of luck on your future endeavors. I hope all goes well!

 Before I attended FTC I was a certified EMT and knew a lot about the medical field because all my life I wanted to be in the medical field. The school done nothing for me, I went out and talked to a doctor and volunteer for free to prove myself and show my dedication to my goals. You should not be upset with me for what I posted. Because if you would like I will give you name of students that was pass out of the school with failing grades. I don't want trouble and ruin my name or the school name, but I want fairness. I was told in September I would receive a check at Christmas time and so many other student was told by Adrain the financial officer that was there, and I repeat was there. Then I sat in Alex office and Alex was on the phone with the new person in financial aid and she told him the third week of externship which was this past Friday. Now they tell me that can't give me a date. The financial woman tells me that they had the wrong date in there computer to when I was graduating and she would correct that. So where is my check? Then Alex promises my wife a letter stating that I would get the check for sure on March 4, 2011. It’s been two weeks and no letter and the 4th is this Friday. And he has ignored her calls and she has been nothing but nice to him because my wife knows no other way. This can get very frustrating for anyone who lives pay check to pay check and don't live in the world you and Alex live in with a more than substantial pay check. You can continue to run that school the way you want. That has nothing to do with me, because you don't have to believe me, it will catch up to you because Deland is a small are and all the physicians in this area know about this school well before I even came around. And Ms May has express to all of us they are losing providers all the time because of what is being released from there. So I have enough problems in life without carrying the schools on my back. I want my check take my test and I am gone for ever. Never here from me again.

Your anger is as misguided as your claims and we both know that. You are in control of what you do as most of the rest of us. My only caution to you Ken is think before you act. You are responsible for what you say and do and at some point need more than emotional fuel to make the claims valid, in other words Ken don't put yourself in front of a issue without facts, that type of behavior is not covered on any 1st Amendment latitude. Making claims with no proof or validity may very well result in your having to defend them with such proof. If you feel you have a legal claim I encourage you to seek legal representation and ask that individual to contact me for an introduction to our counsel. Don't put you and your family in harms way and go off and make false claims that could require substantiation later. I am sorry that you and a few friends did not like FTC. And we both know you were fully aware that courses and credits do not necessarily transfer from a vocational school to an academic one. You came to school to go to work - and that's what you are doing. You got what you set out to do. I would like to see you next week but will be out of town at a conference. I hope you and Alex can work things out, really I do. However if that cannot be done - let your counsel take it from there - at this point Ken that is not only my suggestion to you but I also think the best advise I can give you. take care.

This people are not about a one person opinion it about many many students getting the shaft. Yes come to school and talk the students in the parking lot out smoking. Don't go in and announce yourself at all. Just ask questions. Mr Ruggieri you are a disgrace to the nationality, to be part of this chaos. You are passing student with 52 and midterms and 62 on finals and I have seen it in several classes and these students are either on externship now or was and have totally ruin their own creditability and the school. The Deland location is discredited a Physician that was teaching there and trust he will also be subpoena when the time comes You think by having me arrested for posting public record comments about this school is going to stop me. The physician I work for knows about this place before I even came to work for him and what had come out of that school. You day will come maybe not here on earth but someday you have the face the Lord for what you are doing to poor innocent people who are reaching for the stars with hopes and the school shooting it all down with lies. There have many students that can attest to the school telling them that there credit would transfer and got shafted. This is far from over my friend and nothing is going to stop me from closing this school down. I can't be too far off base because an attorney took the case. Why don’t you meet up with me and talk about this personally. I will be at the Deland location Thursday 11:30 to take the state test, and also my attorney and hopefully Fox News to get this out to the public. Also I have an article coming out in the Penny saver in two weeks to warn future students to come there. This is far from the end my friend. Someone has to help the future of these people before you destroy them.

FTC is a fine school with some students attending who have personal challenges. Schools are like little cities - not everyone is polite, not everyone is honest, but everyone seems to have an opinion. These allegations are not true - no mobster owns or owned anything in Puerto Rico.  Students have attended this group of schools for over 35 years and many lives have changed for the better as a result - and yes, some people will always find someone else to blame for their personal shortcomings.

As far as loans and grants go, they are distributed under government guidelines - no one holds them as long as a student is in satisfactory progress - if they get held up it's generally because of an issue. FTC is a great school with great performance - if it is something you think can help change your life - check it out yourself and ignore the negativity of one person - who may or may not even be offering opinion based on fact - some people just have to be negative.

Actually you may sit in at no expense to you for a full week. That will give you time to evaluate both the teacher and the program, meet the faculty and students, and make an informed decision yourself. 
We have nothing to hide, ever.

But people who use reports like this one are really pretty destructive and generally have a lot of things they need to work through - schools are not perfect and neither are students - we try to work together towards graduation and a job - that's the most important thing to concentrate on, not making up scare stories, etc.

Ken I totally agree with you and have contacted a bunch of classmates that will be willing to sign a form to have this school closed or fined in regards, to giving us all false information in regards to vacations leaves, funds dispursed, and the teaching staff and teaching tools. Please let us know as soon as possible, we are all behind you 100%.
