Floyd Mitchell Home Repairs No Show (5X!), No Call, No Apologies - SCAM! Minneapolis, Minnesota

I received a Living Social voucher for four hours of handyman services from Floyd Mitchell Home Repairs in spring 2012. I called to schedule an appointment and was told that he was booked through the summer and made an appointment for September 20.

On Thursday, September 20, Floyd showed up four hours after he was scheduled to arrive. He apologized for being late, and was unable to complete any of the home improvement projects I had wanted him to tackle that day. We rescheduled for the following week.

Tuesday, September 25 - Floyd did not show up, did not call, did not email or text. I called him the following day to find out what happened, and he claimed he "wrenched his ankle," and suggested I just call Living Social to get my money back. I explained that I didn't want the money back, but would rather have the work done at my house. He confirmed that he would be at my house on October 19 to make up.

Friday, October 19 - I emailed and left several voicemail messages (none of which were returned) reminding Floyd about his make-up appointment during the week. Again, he did not show up, did not call, did not email or text, and did not answer his phone any of the times I called to find out where he was.

The next day, I called him from my office phone and he picked up on the first ring. This time, he claimed to have "pneumonia," (he sounded great for someone with a lung infection) and again suggested I get my money back. I again told him I would rather just have the work done. He apologized for the runaround and suggested a weekend date, Saturday, November 3.

Saturday, November 3 - Floyd did not show up, did not call, did not email or text. When I tried calling the number I had for him, I received a recording that it had been changed. A quick Google search brought me to a Craigslist ad for handyman services that Floyd had posted during the week, with a new phone number. I called and he had no excuse, but said he would be at my house, "FOR SURE!," on November 11.

Saturday, November 11 - Floyd did not show up, did not call, did not email or text.

I've completely given up ever having the handyman services I received as a gift redeemed, and now my goal is to help other homeowners from making the same mistake that I did.

Floyd Mitchell is a scam artist, a terrible business owner and deceptive and untruthful man. Consider yourself warned!

I'm not quite sure what Floyd means when he writes that I "did not have the proper materials or realistic expectations in regards to the amount of repairs she wanted done that was outside the scope of the dealfind coupon."

I wanted to have some trim painted and a few shelves hung. I was also interested in getting a bid for fixing an old chimney, but knew that the actual chimney repair would not be covered by a single voucher.

It's too bad Floyd didn't do his research before taking part in a daily deal program, but the fact is that he did agree to DealFind's terms when he offered the voucher. I agree that "half of the 39 dollars, minus gas" is close to working for free, but that is in no way my problem.

Floyd, if you believe DealFind is a scam, just remember that you're the one who decided to business with them in the first place.

In regards to the customer above, I agree that thier was some miscommunication. However, the customer fails to remember that I came out and was ready to work the first time. She failed to state that they did not have the proper materials or realistic expectations in regards to the amount of repairs she wanted done that was outside the scope of the dealfind coupon.

The Dealfind coupons were oversold by dealfind and I encouraged her to get a refund. Is that a scam.

I believe that this is slanderous and unacceptable as the complaint states I directed her to a refund and she refused. The scam is dealfind and customers who think they are going to get a makeover for 39 dollars. Dealfind is not a good fit for small business or homeowners. You get what you pay for. I get half of the 39 dollars, minus gas and in most instances I work for free or worse. You decide where the scam is.
