For The Move, Move Direct Relocation, A Team Trucking i believe they manipulated the weight of our belongings so they could charge more Fort Lauderdale, Stone Mountain, Decatur Florida, georgia
we originally hired FOR THE MOVE to load, drive and unload our belongings from orlando to houston. we described the things we owned and they estimated that it weighed around 3500 lbs. and quoted us a price of $1700. when we arrived in houston, we recieved an e-mail (which we still have) that stated the weight was 7340 lbs. and that we owed them $3002.11!
our belongings did not even fill half of the 24' box truck that they brought. and the driver told us that he had a truck that big because they were planning on putting another household behind ours. after that, we talked on the phone on several occasions trying to work this out because we did not have $3000. and we did not believe our things weighed that much. on two other occasions, the weight changed from 6800 lbs to 6100 lbs. so they agreed to meet us at the weigh station to prove it weighed that much. the only thing they would agree to is weighing the truck full. they flat out refused to empty it so we could see the difference. they held our belongings hostage until we paid (fortunately, my grandparents were able to take out a small loan for us).
the total weight of the truck was 22100 lbs and they claim the truck weighs 15550 lbs empty. that is a difference of 6550 lbs, which is now a fourth weight! the max weight for that truck (which was posted on the side of it) was 25000 lbs. which doesn't add up since our things didn't even fill the truck halfway. i don't expect that we will get our money back (although that would be nice!) i don't want them to keep doing this to people!!
