Complaint Review: Ford/Mercury

Ford/ Mercury 3.8 Engine Head Gasket Failure

  • Reported By:
    Muskegon MI
  • Submitted:

  • Updated:
    Wed, October 23, 2002

Ford issued a recall for 1994 Mercury Sable cars with the 3.8 engine due to head gasket failure. I took my vehicle to the local Mercury dealor to have it checked and was told the gasket was not leaking at this time and thus a repair could not be made.

My 94 Sable has 61,400 miles on it and I have since been told by mechanics not employed with Ford that the gasket may not fail until 70,000, 80,000, 100,000 etc. However, according to Ford the problem must appear by February of 2001 in order for the repair to be made at Ford's exspense.

I phoned Ford and explained my dissatisfaction with this situation. Ford knew there was a problem with these engines and yet continued to put them in their cars. Because my car does not yet have enough miles on it, for the gasket to fail I feel I am being ripped off and left with a $1500.00 repair when it does fail. I am also fearful to drive my car on a long trip for fear this engine could fail at any time.

There are many Ford/Mercury owners in the same situation. Perhaps together we can place pressure on Ford to fix these engines at THEIR expense.

I informed Ford I will continue to advocate for the repair of my engine and will not purchase another Ford product in the future and will suggest to others not to buy a Ford vehicle.

So you feel that a Ford dealer has Ripped You OFF. Try this Hat on for size.

William CLay Ford who is Henery Ford's Great grandson says that quality is JOB ONE. Why don't you email him directly at Wford@ford.com and tell him how you feel.

Ask him to also check to see if the Ford dealer that you bought from is a "Blue Oval" dealership.

William C. Ford says that he wants to turn Ford Motor Corp around. I say SHOW ME!

I FEEL a FALSE SENCE OF HONESTY is in the AIR!

Now If I were you, I would email Ford's big shots and ask the same questions. Here are is a list of names and phone numbers and EMAIL ADDRESSES. call a few and ask for their fax number and "FIRE AWAY" If I were you Anne I would Print a copy of this and KEEP it. These contacts might come in helpful one day.

You want to know why I FEEL you can't get the below contact info? I will tell you what I FEEL you can't get the below contact informantion.

Because I FEEL that Ford Motor Corp aswell as many other car makers know, That they know that they are going to build some cars and trucks that will have some trouble and I FEEL that they do NOT WANT to deal with most of it.

How many of the below listed do you think really want to hear your TROUBLES?

Call up any Ford dealer you want and ask for some corp email adderesses. Tell the Ford dealer that you call that you need to get some help and see what contact info you get.

I FEEL that you will get a FAT ZERO!

Here on a golden platter I The Great Thorn give you CONTACTS! FIRE AWAY.

The Golden platter being the Rip Off Report.
