Unfortunally,I own a 97 Mercury with a 100% plastic intake manifold.Eventhough some cars built with this 4.6 engin have ben recalled, mine is not on the list. Why some people with this defictive part are being helped and others are not,nither I nor the company can tell. this plastic intake has ben redesigned. Recalls have ben issued for certian Crown Victioras and mecuerys with this same 4.6 engine but not mine and many others,Why not it's the same defictive design. running coolant thru plastice just does not work. At 71000 miles my manifold cracked.Originally I thought it was just a hose. My 16 year old daughter brought the car home and said it overheated real bad. I located the leak behind the alternator,thought it was a hose.Well ,there I found a ceacked intake.Two days and $350 worth of parts later I thought the problem solved. After starting the car we couldn't keep coolant in it.Two more days we find both heads with coolant in them.Both heads are blown.Today I'll take the heads in to check for warping.I've already spent an additonal $350 on gaskets,b olts etc. All this as a result of a known defict which the company helps some but not others.Why is this part bad for some and not others.So far noone can tell me.
