I purchased by lease a brand new 2006 explorer xlt, a high end all options (big mistake)
I made another mistake of letting them talk me into a lease, with a $9700 trade in down payment.
that would be taken off the back end purchase. I also purchased the exsesive wear plan (another mistake) From the day I drove the junk home it was trouble, 250 miles on the junk, I smelled anti freeze with a puddle in my driveway after 5 service trips, purchase of 60 gallons of anti freeze, at 27,900 miles I refused to take it from the dealership, till they removed the radiator and test it.
It ended up to be a 3" seam that was never welded from production During this time this junk had over heated. The transmition had slipped on a kick down excelartion, I had assumed this was due to the above normal running temp. but after the rad repair the transmition still performed the same.
I was told by the dealer that was a high tech transmisson and thats how they work. at 35994 miles I took it back to the dealer and refused to hear anymore BS from them. after a scary test drive for a trans. tech . I was told he knew what it was. it was a pressure problem from a production error. during this time the front drive axle had failed 3 times. there were check engin lights on at least 4 to 6 times per year,  I contacted ford for all these problems and expressed my conserns to drive the junk after the war. was up, They refused to extend the war. for 12 months to cover the junk. Cutting my losses I turned the junk in 2 months prior to its experation with every intent of just cutting my losses, 1 week after the turn in , I received a invoice for the last payment and  1 tire, I had 5000 in exsesive wear coverage and all you can find on a 38,000 mile turn in.
thats how well I took care of it. The tires passed inspection 2 days before I turned it in. even if it did need a tire. take the exsessive wear plan and put 4 brand new tires on it. I heard everything from  I didn't have the exsessive wear plan to there is a picture of the tire on the inter net for me to view. Now I am refusing to pay them a dime. the charged me sales tax for a trade in $570   I paid $530 for exsessive wear and $9700 down.   they owe me $10800 minus the $776 they want me to pay to a collection ag.  with never a late payment for the junk. Do not do Business with McCarrafty Ford in Mech.
