I travel due to my job so last June I bought a new travel trailer to stay in when away from home.  It is a Forest River Rockwood Windjammer #2808 and I bought it at Fun Time RV in Cleburne, Texas.  Besides the obvious features of the trailer the salesman told us the trailer is designed for winter use and that you could "winter over in Montana".  I didn't know what he was talking about but I did find out.

Last fall when nights started getting cool, I got up one morning and got underwear out of the closet and put it on and it was wet.  The inside corners of the trailer are so poorly insulated that they sweat or condense moisture.

I contacted Fun Time RV to get this fixed.  The service manager, Tim Johnson tells me the insulation in the corners of the trailer was not properly installed at the factory.  He requested a work order from Forest River to fix it but they refused.  The manufacturer instructed me to keep the closet doors open and keep a fan running to dry them out.  Damage due to condensation is not covered by warranty.  Put your clothes on the table or the bed or the floor but not in the closets.

Initially I thought the salesman at Fun Time had lied to us about using the trailer in winter.  Further investigation revealed that everything he told us was information on Forest Rivers website.  He had done his homework but the information is wrong.  They claim the trailer has an enclosed underbelly and heated plumbing tanks.  It does not. They claim ducted floor heat which would keep the trailer the same temperature in every room but my trailer doesn't have that.  The service manager at Fun Time tells me these items would also help with the condensation problem.  He says he can fix everything and make it as advertised but I will have to pay for it because Forest River will not.

The Forest River website also claims "quick recovery water heater".  Truth is it takes 20 minutes to heat 2 gallons of water, so don't take a shower during the winter.  They claim "black water flush", a feature that cleans out the sewage tank.  My trailer doesn't have this.  They claim "30 inch entry door".  My trailer doesn't have this so I cannot replace my uncomfortable furniture.

I will not spend another unbearable winter in this trailer.  I would not recommend that anyone purchase anything made by Forest River.  Be careful because they manufacture under many names.  They have no warranty and the features they advertise do not exist.
