We went to the local shelter to adopt a pet kitten. The kitten we adopted was named Stevie. When we went to vet they said Stevie was sick. She died the next day in my hands.

I had also adopted a beautiful black lab puppy named Abby. She was doing well then a week after we go her she got sick. I took her to the vet and they said she had Parvo. Abby would die without treatment and they were unsure if she would make it with treatment. When we adopted our pets they had shelter care which is insurance. I checked and it did cover parvo. I notified the shelter of the parvo (so they more than likely put down all puppies exposed to her.) Everyday I would go and set with Abby and cheer her on. But the illness was too much and she died. I paid the $600.00 out of my pocket with the impression I would get reimbursed.

Shelter Care informed me that the shelter failed to file the insurance for Abby so the coverage was not active. The shelter apologize and told me to talk with Tim the manager. He told me that an employee made a mistake and failed to file the insurance. They checked with the county attorney and they would not help with the cost, even though they made the mistake.

Trying to do the right things hurt my family emotionally financially. I don't have much and its a shame doing the right thing cost us so much. Be very careful about this shelter.
