ON 12/26/03, we ordered a 2004 Toyota Sienna from Fort Wayne Toyota. Our salesman, Michael Leffler, requested a $1,000 deposit which we gave as a personal check (cashed on 12/30/03).

We did not hear from Mr. Leffler or the dealership about our Sienna until 2/20/04 when Mr. Leffler told us that it would be manufactured in 7-10 days.

Due to my husband's new health concern that may cause his early retirement, my surgery on 2/2/04 and my 75 yr old dependent mother's surgery on 2/19/04 - we have had an increase in medical bills and face the future with a very shakey and uncertain financial situation.

My husband called the dealership on 2/21/04 and asked to speak with the General Manager. After a few minutes of being on hold, "Gabe" answered. He said that he would have to pull our file and call us right back. After an hour, my husband called the dealership - "Gabe" could not be located or was "unavailable".

Luke Luther took the call and after my husband repeated the request to cancel the contract and have our deposit returned, Mr. Luther began to repeatedly ask what was wrong and why. Regardless of how many times my husband insisted it was private, Mr. Luther kept insisting he needed to know to consider if he could return our deposit. It became very stressful for my husband and I took the phone. I did my best to explain to Mr. Luther what our situation was and he stated that he would have to check into it further and call us on Monday with his decision. There was no discussion regarding the cancellation of the vehicle at this time, only that we were cancelling the order and that we wanted our deposit.

While at the hospital, mr. Luther called and left the message on oujr machine that we had a valid contract and we would be held to it and they would call us when the vheicle was manufactured and arrived there.

We had no indiciation when we contracted with them that we would be facing this situation now - why else would we have given them a $1,000 deposit? How could we now continue in good conscience to get a loan knowing that our income may be severely diminished in a very short time??

Mr. Luther's lack of compassion and understanding has only contributed to our stress. After speaking with Toyota HQ, I learned that Mr. Luther is the one who makes the decisions if the contract can be cancelled and if the deposit can be refunded. He has already stated his position. His heartlessness is only excelled by his lack of compassion.

To make matters worse, the vehicle that we were trading in and whose value would be determined when the Sienna came in - is no longer in our possession due to major repairs being needed.

I have overwhelmed with the health problems in my family right now and Mr. Luther and the Bob Rohrman Dealership/Fort Wayne Toyota have only added to the stress in our lives at this time.

There is NO God in their lives.

I too had some dealings with this dealership. They scammed us out of 10000 on a trade in. I would NOT reccomend them to any consumer wanting an honest deal. The customer service is very offensive to the consumer as well. I am doing whatever it takes to exploit the tactics of this company. I wish you luck, and God Bless you for speaking out. You're right, there is NO God in them at all. They are ruthless!

Lawyer retained!

We retained an attorney. The attorney for the Fort Wayne Toyota attorney offered to let us out of the "contract" at the expense of our $1,000 deposit. We elected to accept this offer due to our health.

Again, the van was NOT manufactured at the time we cancelled the purchase order. Fort Wayne Toyota has no flexibility or compassion when dealing with their customers. They are a "for profit only" dealership and we would never return there or recommend them to anyone.
