I purchased a home in the Kernersville area about 7 yrs. ago.  I was the 4th owner of a house that was already 14 yrs old & built by Fortis Homes.  I did not have any background on this house because it was purchased from a bank.  All I was able to find out was that it was built by Fortis Homes.

I have read some of the other reports & have similar issues only worse.  The house was built using masonite siding which over the years has completely soaked through over windows, doors & at ground level.  This genious of a builder actually set the back of my house on the ground without proper support.  Now the masonite siding has rotted off & the struts holding up the dining room have rotted through.  The chimney slats are falling off & blowing away in the wind.  My plumbing has issues also with the sewer line from the house being lower than the main line which backs up in the house every 6 months.  I should not have to have my sewer line cleaned out that often.  There was a major leak under the second floor bathroom window (exterior) & water has been dripping down between the walls for years.

My brick steps leading to the front door are slowly sinking into the ground which leaves a huge gap between the porch & top step.  You actually have to hop up to get in the front door.  The electrical issues in the home are monumental which I won't expand upon here.  The back deck was built snug up against the house & every time it rains the water pools under the dining room window causing massive damage to the siding & trim.

By the way I did hire a home inspector who found no major problems with the home & gave it a passing grade for $400.  Even with a hole in the sewer line (at ground level) & food from the garbage disposal laying on the lawn.  This I did not see because the home was bought in december & I'm assuming the inspector didn't walk the outside of the house.  I was living out of state & trusted the inspector to be honest.

Now here I am 7 years later with all these issues to deal with & will have to be resolved before I sell the house.  I hired a home improvement contractor who basically did 1/2 of the work he promised & ran off with my money.  More on him later!  Today I am stuck with a house that needs urgent repair & a bank accout that was cleaned out.  I'm beginning to think there are NO honest builders or home improvement companies in this area.  End of story!

Sincerely,

Senior Citizen (72)
