Rented a car from Fox in October to pick up at LAX. Waited almost 1 hour for shuttle.

After arriving at rental office, line was out the front door and down the sidewalk. waited another hour to finally get to counter. Awful service.

My main complaint though , is the fact that they never told me anything about how tools are handled in CA, I would gladly have rented an EZ pass. But was not offered this option.

Almost 2 months after the rental I was billed $90.00 dollars for tolls?? I maybe went through 8 to 10 tolls and the roads have no cash lanes, states "Plate Pass" they charged me 90 dollars for 8 to 10 tolls? Tried calling them , cant reach anyone..

Apparantly they have this cost somewhere in the fine print... I will NEVER use this crap company again, sometimes it makes no sense to try and save a few bucks on a car rental, I'll stick with Hertz or Enterprise etc..

Dont use Fox is my advice

I know that you are trying to come off with some "status" to make your report sound more credible, but your actions don't bear that out.

I know that people who actually spend the money to get "Gold" do not one day just decide to go to Fox or other similar places to save a few bucks.

I know that just about every major car rental company uses Plate Pass, so trying to claim that somehow fox is Unique agai shows your lack of knowledge.

I know that someone who claims to rent as much as you are trying to claim, are well aware of PlatePass and how to handle tolls.

If you don't believe me you can search for "H***z Plate Pass" in your favorite search engine and see for yourself.  I don't want to post the link since it is to another company, but if you come back here and try to again claim that they don't, I will post the link showing your additional deception.

Now, the one thing I will give you the benefit of the doubt on is EZPass. In some states rental car agenices will issue you a transponder for EZPass as it is not video enforcement. So you could have had a transponder and not realized it was through PlatePass. Or you just happen to live in that area and "assumed" you would get a transponder and just got lucky.

I also know your "stop payment" won't work. Because you signed a rental contract, and I can just about guarantee you that the PlatePass information was there. As soon as that is brought to light, any disputes you have will be denied.  Oh and if by chance your bank issued you a credit while they are investigating, it was only temporary. After they finish and deny your dispute they will remove the credit.

One thing I don't know is, if you went on the toll roads in CA how exactly did you think you would pay for them? Because there are no toll booths to pay cash.

You .. don't know what your talking about

The tolls were $31.00 , fox charged $90.00 "service " fee They have no idea what service means. And they should explain what plate pass is and how to use it. Believe it or not, the world does not revolve around California. I rent cars all the time from real rental companies. And will never try these crap rip off companies again. Hertz gold , never a wait and in the long run would have been worth it , if you add all the crap caused by a s*** company And by the way I stopped payment of the so called servicing fee. Screw fox car rental. And screw California

Let me start at the end and work up.

In CA we do not use EZPass, the any toll roads we have are run by FasTrack.  Next, there isn't a single car rental agency that will "rent" a transponder.  Each and every one(including the two you mentioned) use the PlatePass account.  If you do not use PlatePass you are subject to the tolls and additonal fines(that can be over $100 each)...Don't you just love CA..

Anyways, our tolls are expensive compared to most of the rest of the US.  It is very possible that the $90 you were charged was just the tolls.  For example if you travel what is known as the Metro Express lanes, the tolls will be a minimum of about $4-$7 but can max out at $15.40 for just over the 10 miles depending on traffic.  Other toll roads average betwen $2 and $10 per trip.

As for the wait.  I have waited close to an hour at other rental agencies with only 5 or 6 people in front of me.  So while it is a bit of a drag to wait, for them to get through as many as you claim in just an hour means they appeared to be moving about as fast as they could.

Oh and no before you say it.  No, I do not work for them and I actually use different agencies for my rentals.
