Complaint Review: Francesco Vitali 48 Hour Film project

Greek Producer Francesco Vitali and his partner Chris Siametis hired me to write short speeches for his four actors at the 48 Film Festival. This was done on the spur of the moment, which also adds to my ire. He agreed to pay (via paypal) me at the very least, 9$/hour, and I spent around seven hours on the first draft. I am wet-behind-the-ears, so I agreed to the paltry amount, eager to get my foot in the door. The task was done remotely from my own apartment, and his luxurious home in West Hills. Francesco Vitali also gave me a ticket to the event and encouraged me to find friends who can also attend, since they had quite a few filler seats. I acquiesced, and invited eight of my friends. We all attended the event on September 2nd, the actors tenuously enacted the words I wrote, and the event went without a hitch. Next day, I remind him that he has yet to pay for my services, and then the show begins! He claims that I "volunteered, and he can produce witnesses" to attest to this. Funny, when I have email correspondences inquriing about my availability and asking me to work. I also sent the script via email. This producer is delusional, manipulative, and exploitative, and will not hesitate to screw anyone over. I learned a hard lesson. Heed my warning, DO NOT work with this producer.
