On Dec 16, 2017, we went to Fred Anderson for our 5000 mile rotation and oil change that is required to keep our powertrain and tires for life warranties. On this occasion we provided new lug nuts to replace the ones they had over torqued and warped by their technicians.  These were Toyota lug nuts just not bought from them. After waiting 4 hours for this service call, we took our truck home not aware that the right rear tire did not have it lug nuts screwed on. On Monday, Dec. 18th while pulling a trailer, the wheel fell off our truck.  Fortunately no one was hurt, but the studs on the wheel were damaged and the truck was stranded.  We called Fred Anderson immediately and talked to the service manager "John".   John told us to take it to our local Goldsboro Dealership since it would be too hard to tow it to the Raleigh Dealership.

The Goldsboro Dealership told us that it was obvious that the lug nuts were not tightened; but would not put it in writing, and that Fred Anderson should make it right, just give the $320.00 invoice to the service department.

We turned in the $320.00 invoice from Goldsboro to Fred Anderson sure they would make it right.  But they never contacted us about it.  I called after the first of the year and talked again to John in the Fred Anderson Service Department.  I was told that they would not warranty the lug nuts.   I said the lug nuts did not need to be warranted.  They were fine, it was the workmanship of the mechanic that needs to be warrantied.  Goldsboro did not find anything wrong with the other three wheels or their lug nuts; all bought and put on at the same time.  I do not feel comfortable having my truck serviced at a dealership that won't warrantee their workers.  But as long as we have this truck we will have to continue to have it serviced there.  I caution anyone about buying from Fred Anderson, their service department really is subpar, and if they won’t warranty their workers you really are screwed when they mess up.

Got a phone calll today from John in the Fred Anderson Raleigh NC Service Department. He told my partner and co-owner of our truck; that a credit of 320.00 will be added to our account for future service work.  Ok, cash would have been better; that's what we had to put out, but I am happy to have this resolved in an amlicable way.  Thank you for this wonderful site!
