Complaint Review: FRED PARRY MOTERS

I was having problems with my standard transmission going into reverse. I took it to them to have it serviced. They replaced several synchros, forks, shafts, etc. After I got it back when I was in fifth gear and took my foot off the gas the shift lever would pop out of gear and go into nuetral. I took it back and I was told that it was because the one gear was new and the other gear was old an they were not meshing quite right and that in time they would wear into each other. he put some special friction reducer and said that would help. It didn't. 6 months later it died on me again.

This time it is stuck in fifth gear, one of the gears he worked on. After calling him he said I would be charged for him to take it apart to fix it and that he would not gaurantee his labor although the parts where. After calling around I found I could have got an entire rebuilt transmission or a new one for about the price he charged me for parts.

Needless to say I'm taking it elsewherehe he had his chance to fix it the first time, and I would rather pay someone else to do it right the first time and stand behind his work.
