Complaint Review: Fred Resnick

To find out if the Preferred Shield Inc Fred Resnick is the same one as the Momax Fred Resnick, go to a search engine and type in REZRULES: LETS BREAK THE RULES.  The momax Fred Resnick has a couple photos of himself posted under his singles or dating web-site.  Many folks ripped off by Fred of Momax will be curious to know if this is the same guy now working for Preferred Shield Inc.  Please let us know.

I work in the home improvement industry and was at the home show at Arlington Racecourse this past weekend.  I met a man named Fred Resnick but have not been able to find any photos of the Resnick mentioned in these complaints to see if it is indeed the same man.  His new company is Preferred Shield Inc, selling Master Shield Gutter Protection products in Bartlett IL and his card lists that he is the Regional Operations Manager.  I tried to find the website as his email address shows fred@chicagolandgutterguards.com but GoDaddy still shows that site as available.  His cell phone number was also listed on the card.  I try to research the companies that I do business with as my business is to be a resource for HI companies and services.  Something about this guy set my Spidey-senses to tingling.  It took a while to find all this info on this site (now my new favorite site, didn't know it existed) as I was looking up the company name, the address, the town the franchise and then finally, his name.  Boy am I glad I kept digging around!  Needless to say, he will not be someone I recommend.  As for the comment about him needing to work to pay everyone back, I agree but I don't want him working in my industry.  Let him work someplace where he won't be able to rip off consumers--he needs to be an employee where someone can watch him.

I knew Fred years ago he did some work for us and we were really pleased we just heard about all the trouble. How do you know about all this were you a customer of his? You seem to know so much about his personal and family life. He really messed up huh?

Wow I just found out about this guy today! Yes, he is/was going by Fred Williams over at Pyramid. We signed a contract with him back in July 2007 as I was expecting. He did the SAME stuff to us, our addition is not finished and what is done is horrible work. We did not realize what this guy has done. I have a LOT of info on this guy. If anyone is interested let me know.

I can tell you that the house is gone, he had to sell it. The ex wife is still living in the highland park house with the boys. He just got "laid off " from pyramid about a month ago. His buddy Louie had to cut him off as I believe they are about to get busted scamming people again. Fred is making money under the table, not claiming it on taxes and is collecting unemployment! He's driving a mercedes around and lives in a condo by lincoln park that his sister owns. He's also a gambling addict.

I'm just putting all of this new information together, like I said I had no clue about this guys background. My story is very similar to the other stories I read on here about momax. I'm going to figure out what to do about the situtation but if anyone could please tell me: Did he serve jail time? If so, how long? Is he out on probation? From online court records it looks like he is banned from being in this type of business, so I'm assuming he is breaking probation. He went under Fred Williams (his middle name is Fred) over at pyramid because (and this was his story after we found out his real last name) "A lot of folks have it in for jewish people so I go by my middle name".

Wow. That's all I can say. Please post if anyone is still reading up on this.

10/1/08: Saw Mr. Resnick at the Glenview Harley Davidson dealer. Looking to buy a new Harley with his ill-gotten gains? Anyone know what happened to the summer house he built on Chain-O-Lakes? His boat?

He told the police officer that he would re-issue me a check for the one he bounced on an account he closed.

I never got that check.

That was just one of countless lies he told.

My family's Momax experience was a very painful and frustrating one. If any victims want to get paid they would want Fred to be out making money and rebuilding his life (or finding any money he stashed in some offshore account or gave to a friend).

I did state in my comment that if Fred is up to his old tricks there is no hope for the man. He may think he is the victim vs. knowing he caused his own pain. Perhaps if we had an ounce of empathy for him, he'd have an ounce of empathy for us.

Did he formally change his name to "Fred Williams" or did he steal someone's identity or is he still just a creep.

I too was a victim of Momax/Fred Resnick.
I think it is good that Fred is trying to start over and can understand if he changed his name (assuming he isn't walking around with two names). He did serve his time and lost a lot. However, if he is truly back to his old tricks then there is no hope for the man. He has a judgement against him and I recall it represents a relatively small portion of his future income so he shouldn't run from it.
He needs to be honest about reporting his income and paying his victims something. Otherwise, I don't see how he can get away with it.

If he is truly trying to build his life again he needs a chance. However, if he is making up a new name and evading his victims, then we need to report him to the Attorney General and to his employer, Pyramid Home Improvement.

Fred is working at Pyramid home remodelers on Milwaukee. I have met him and compared him to mug shots. I had not met him prior to my 1st bathroom being partially completed. The sub-contractors had made a major mistake (threw out stainless caninet that was specified to remain). The subs had replaced it w/ a tacky kitchen looking cabinet and Fred came over to see what I was complaining about. Also, I got to be friends with the customer service person, easy when you speak every day, and he told me that Fred is on JDate using freeatlast as his screen name. You might look at the photo there (he used an OLD one). feel free to continue this conversation. Funny thing is that after reading your reports I realized that the salesman that I had (Michael Rose), used a lot of the same lies that Fred had used before.

I presume you found an ear/eyeful while googling Dear Fred. His case with all of us is STILL in bankruptcy court, so please, do tell the nature of his work! Is he working FOR a company or is it his company? And what is the name of the company? How did you find him?Anything/everything you can tell us would be great! Give us the whole story!

Mary - I read your article regarding Resnick(Williams), tell us more as to why you believe that you have hired Resnick? There are many of us interested in your reply - victims of Momax builders, owned by Fred Resnick in Northbrook Ill.
