On June 14, 2004 I sent 5 packages from Marquette Michigan to Phoenix Arizona. These packages contained wedding gifts. While preparing the boxes, Jackie (an employee) asked if we would like to have our items repackaged, and we answered her no, that we felt like our items were packaged well, and that if a glass happened to be broken, we wouldn't get upset about it. Basically telling her we didn't want to pay extra for insurance. Jackie then stated not to worry, that all of our gifts would get to Phoenix safely. This did not happen. The problems started on June 18th, when 4 of our boxes arrived at our front step badly damaged. I then looked up on the fed-ex website what happened to our 5th box. According to the website, our box had been sent back to Marquette. I then called Fred's Rubber Stamp Shop and spoke to Audrey (owner of the store) and she stated that she would call us when the box arrived back in Marquette. On June 23rd, I called Audrey and she stated that the box had been returned because glasses had gotten broken and fed-ex returns items that are obviously broken. Audrey proceeded to tell me that we were "aware that our items would be broken". This statement is not true, we would not have sent out our wedding gifts with the intention of breaking them, and why would Jackie knowlingly send items that were going to broken?

Audrey proceeded to tell me that to resend the contents would be $18. Original price to send a 7 lb. package was $10.71! Audrey was very rude on the phone and unwillingly to explain the difference in price. I then had my mother who lives in Marquette pick up the package from Fred's Rubber Stamp Shop and my mother said that other things were broken in the box also.

If Fred's Rubber Stamp Shop / Fred's Pack and Ship considers them self to be a consumer friendly, professioinal packing / shipping business, they have alot of improvement to strive for. I am a very disappointed customer and will not use their business again.

cory, to let you know we did have insurance on the packages.. the minimum needed. ($100.00 per box). Jackie wanted to repack the items, to of course make more money, NOT to be helpful. The four boxes that arrived to us were damaged not the items inside, so obviously our packing was sufficient. Do not use Fred's... WHAT A SCAM!

You Packaged The Items

This beats all. You packaged the items, Fred's offered to repackage them and insure them all of which you declined ("we felt like our items were packaged well" and" we didn't want to pay extra insurance") and now you are complaining that your packages got broken. 4 out of 5 of the package arrived damaged, man, that has to be one crappy packing job.

I'm glad you don't work for FedEx or UPS, maybe you work for the US post office that sounds about right. $10.71 vs $18, the $7.29 is probably for the insurance you should have bought the first time. Jackie was probably trying to make you feel better when she told you the items would arrive safely.
