I signed up for freecreditreport.com after seeing their catchy commercials every 10 minutes and found out several months later they are charging one of my credit cards $14.95 per month.

I under the impression "free" meant no cost to me!!  No wonder they can afford those commercials for a service that is advertised as "free".

If you read the fine print it tells you that you must cancel within a certain time. You're only getting a free trial of what you eventually must pay for. when doing anything "free" online that requires a credit card, make sure you get a customer service number to contact someone quickly if needed.  Sorry, but this one is your fault.

I missed it the same way 100's or 1000's of other trusting consumers did.  It is called a mistake, ever make one yourself?  Just read the complaints of others as I did before I filed this one.  If credit card companies, credit bureaus or others dealing with average consumers were trustworthy, like so many of us want to believe, there would be no need for this forum.  Or didn't you think of that?

Just how did you miss the information right on the home page that stated you were signing up for a service.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION When you order your free report here, you will begin your free trial membership in Triple AdvantageSM Credit Monitoring. If you don't cancel your membership within the 7-day trial period**, you will be billed $14.95 for each month that you continue your membership. ConsumerInfo.com, Inc. and Freecreditreport.com are not affiliated with the annual free credit report program. Under a new Federal law, you have the right to receive a free copy of your credit report once every 12 months from each of the three nationwide consumer reporting companies. To request your free annual report under that law, you must go to www.annualcreditreport.com.

I also wonder how you could miss being charged that much for "several months",  unless you make it a habit to not monitor your accounts.
