Recently I attempted to receive my free credit report via freecreditreport.com. I have used their service before, however apparently they have changed it in a way which will delay your 30 day trial period long enough to aquire your MONEY.

Here is how the scam works or at least how it occurred in my situation:

1. You enter all your information on their website and think you will be receiving your free credit report immediately, HOWEVER what you get instead is a message stating that because some of your information wasn't consistent with their records, they had to mail you a PIN code to enter to access your account. (It's been over a month..still haven't received it)

2. You do have the option to call and receive a pin code, so after sitting on hold for over 30 minutes, they tell you no problem we emailed you the pin code. HERE you receive another delay, which requires you to re-contact them and be told that their email server is approximately 5 hours behind. The next problems occur with your username and password combination

3. Once you actually recieve your PIN code, which took me three days, your username and password mysteriously no longer works, at which point you must re-contact and be put on hold for an extensive period of time..only be told of their generated email problems again.

Eventually, if you are persistent, you are able to actually retrieve your credit report and cancel before the 30 days expires, however most people do not have the time to stay on the phone long enough to retrieve the necessary information which you will NEVER receive in under 30 days by mail!!...

Norman,

Why don't you take a look and see what the FTC has done to this "wonderful" company you are so adamant about defending. I think the article speaks for itself.

I was appalled by all these rip off reports about freecreditreport.com. I am an active user and I could attest that these are not true. Yes the mistake of theirs was displaying the name freecreditreport.com, however it is really free! you do have a 30-day trial and I daresay that they don't charge you anything with that.

1. stop whining guys and dont be so (expletive)...read the terms and condition before you sign up. why? because everything is stated there.

2. yes true that all of us are entitled to a free report from FACTA but that is once a year, and per schedule basis. with your membership with freecreditreport.com you get to monitor the movement of your report as often as you want to...best tool to check if your credit providers are really reporting to the bureau.

3. we fret on our $12/month, however we dont see that this is lower than what we pay in our cable bills and in our cable bills we dont get to monitor our credit standing, secure ourselves and our future against fraud and you see they even monitor the movement of our report for us...however busy we are, we are assured that there are eyes that is constantly checking our standing.

4. for those who reported, kindly dont be ungrateful and blow the issue into a magnitude of a hot air balloon, we even owe our gratitude to these providers that we were able to check our credit report with them that even if our free report from the state is not available we were able to get to loans and mortgages and even jobs by pulling up our report.

kindly, if we dont want to pay for all of these and just wanted to grab on free things or if you are really heck poor enough to keep yourselves secure against fraud or hmmm...just plain dont want to pay because and just see opportunities to grab free things, please inform freecreditreport.com that you are signing out or cancelling membership. about the 30 minutes spent on the phone...come on you know well you are lying or overreacting.

I have been with them for long and as even now I can sleep at night knowing I am getting myself an assurance that I will be away from those fraudulent activities by keeping track of my report movement. just dont be ingrate, thank these people for giving you your report and ask them to cancel before your FREE period ends.

I would like to repeat this, READ THE TERMS AND CONDITION BEFORE YOU SIGN UP. I KNOW YOU ARE INTELLIGENT BEINGS, JUST PLAINLY PLAYING COY AND FOOLHARDY.
